Fructose dehydration is one of the key steps for conversion of monosaccharide to 5-hydroxy methyl furfural(HMF)and its derivative,2,5-furandicarboxylic acid(FDCA).The yield and selectivity of HMF from fructose dehydration in aqueous phase is lower than in organic solvents. However, these organic solvents are difficult applicable in industrial scale owing to difficulties with recovery of HMF and toxicity. From ecological and economical points of view, water is the solvent of choice for production of HMF.Successful conversion of monosaccharide in water requires an efficient heterogenous catalyst. In this work, multiwall carbon nanotubes(MWCNT)were functionalized with polydopamine(PDA)and polyetherimide(PEI).Then heparin(Hep)was grated on the modified MWCNT through amidation raction. The prepared MWCNT@PDA-PEI-Hep were charaterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),X-ray photoelectric spectroscopy(XPS),Energy Dispersive Spectrometer(EDS)and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The activity of MWCNT@PDA-PEI-Hep for catalyzing fructose dehydration were studied.-Consecutive use of MWCNT@PDA-PEI-Hep demonstrated that after reuse of five times,no significant activity loss in terms of the glucose conversion and HMF yield was observed.MWCNT@PDA-PEI-Pt was then prepared and used to catalyze the oxidation of HMF to FDCA in water. The grafted PEI on the surface of MWCNT helped to increase the dispersibility of Pt,which in turn increases the yield of FDCA.90.1%of FDCA yield from HMF can reached after 14 h under the reaction temperature of 70? in water.
