The plasticizing properties are important indexes of the performance of a single-screw extruder,and the research of its plasticizing properties characterization technology is very important.Plasticization characterization technology on the one hand can deepen researchers' understanding of the performance of processing equipment,promote the development of conveying and extrusion theory,and lay the foundation for the development of new technologies;on the other hand,it can provide the basis for the optimization of process parameters in industrial production.This paper takes the grooved barrel extruder as the research object,and uses the techniques of visualization experiments,mechanical properties testing of molded products,melt pressure fluctuations,and ultrasonic flaw detection techniques to characterize the plasticizing properties of grooved barrel extruders.The main research work is as follows:(1)A barrel separation visualization experimental test platform was optimised to study the plasticization characteristics of the extrusion system consisting of barrels and screws of different structures.The effect of the barrel structure and screw compression ratio on the plasticizing properties of the grooved barrel extruder is clearly explored through the melt process,the melt temperature/pressure and the output of the extruder.(2)Based on the existing experimental conditions,an on-line pressure monitoring platform was built to achieve real-time recording of pressure fluctuations at the outlet of the extruder head during the extrusion processing.The plasticizing characteristics of the grooved barrel extruders with different material systems and different process conditions were characterized from the melt pressure fluctuations and the mechanical properties of the molded products.(3)The relationship between ultrasonic echo amplitude and the plasticization characteristics of the extruder barrel extruder was analyzed,and an evaluation system based on attenuation of the amplitude of ultrasonic features was constructed.The effects of different material systems and different process conditions on the plasticizing properties of the extruder barrel extruder were explored,and the results were verified by visual experimental studies.
