Photopolymerization has attracted wide attention due to its advantages of energy saving, environmental protection, high efficiency, etc. However, due to the limited penetration ability of light, the application of solidification of thick coatings and the application of colored coatings is limited.A thermal initiator may be introduced into the photopolymerization system,in which thermal polymerization can be triggered by the heat resulted from photopolymerization to improve the defect of the photopolymerization. In this project,a photo-thermal initiator was designed and prepared to study its photochemical properties and apply it to frontal polymerization. The differences between the photo-thermal initiator system and the mixture system was compared. The main research contents and conclusions are as follows.1.The effects of different photoinitiators, concentration and light intensity on the temperature of the photopolymerization system were studied. The rules to control the photoinduced thermopolymerization was obtained.2.A kind of polymerizable thermo initiator was designed and synthesized, which showed lower initiation efficiency, but milder polymerization process and better appearance product than commercial thermos initiators benzoyl peroxide.3.Three photo-thermo monocomponent initiators were synthesized, which showed lower photodegradation rates comparing with the corresponding photoinitiators.4.A comparative study of the photo induced frontal polymerization of the photothermal initiator systems and the mixed compound initiator systems was conducted. The results showed that photothermal initiator systems exhibited a little better initiation characters, especially in lowest initiating concentration. And different systems showed different effect due to different radical produced.
