Polycrystalline TSAG nano-powder has been prepared by High temperature solid phase method,sol gel method as well as coprecipitation method,and the coprecipitation method has been optimized to be the primary method.The polycrystalline material rod with uniform composition and compact structure is made by isostatic pressure,sintering again.Tb3Sc2Al3O12 crystal has been prepared by floating zone methods and the technological conditions have been concluded.The size of the prepared crystal is?5mm×10mm,and the transmittance of the crystal is85%.The crystalline direction?100?,?110?,?111?has been determined by Laue Diffraction.The emission from 5D3 and the absorption from 5D4 has been analyzed in detail,and the lifetime of the 5D4-7F5 is o.4 ms.The Verdet constant has been calculated with Kramers model,and the Verdet constant at 544 nm,632.8nm and 1064 nm has been measured by self-made Faraday rotators,and the corresponding value is 223.3 rad/Tm?179.5 rad/Tm?51.4 rad/Tm.Most importantly,the typical spectra of Tb3Sc2Al3O12 crystal at THz region has been analyzed for the first time,and the refractive index and absorbance has been calculated.
