Ti-based metal has widely been used in dental implants owing to their excellent strength,low elastic modulus and so on.However,as bio-inert material,it cannot form chemical bonds with bone directly,which limits its application in medicine.Besides,Tibased metal also has their own shortcomings,such as low corrosion resistance and wear resistance.The biological properties can be enhanced by surface modification.Ti/Ti O2/Ta composite gradient materials were prepared via hydrothermal-plasma spraying composite methods.The resultant materials were studied by X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscope(SEM),confocal laser scanning microscopy and contact angle tester.The surface roughness of titanium is improved via acid treatment increased.A micro-step structure aligned with the same direction is obtained when acid treatment temperature is 25?,acid treatment time is 10 min and the volume ratio of HF and HNO3 is 1:1.Besides,there are no clear interface between the prepared Ti O2 nanorods and the Ti substrate when Na OH concentration is 5 M,heat treatment temperature is 450?,hydrothermal temperature is 130?.Ta particles are sprayed on Ti O2 surface by plasma spraying when spray voltage is 60 V,spray distance is 150 mm.Eventually,the Ti/Ti O2/Ta composite gradient materials are prepared successfully.The binding force is 66 N,confirming a excellent binding ability with titanium substrates.The microhardness of composite gradient materials is 4554 MPa,which is close to the hardness of human bone.The corrosion resistance of prepared material is 0.547×10-6 A/cm2,which is remarkably lower compared to Ti.The surface energy is 83.4 m J/m2,implying a well wettability.The deposition of hydroxyapatite(HA)on the composite gradient materials are much higher than that of ordinary titanium metal,showing an excellent biological activity.Cytotoxicity tests show that the four samples has no biological toxicity.
