Visible light photoredox catalysis has in recent years emerged as a powerful synthetic tool to achieve important organic transformations and carbon-carbon bonds formation due to its simple operation, mild condition, low catalyst load, step economy and satisfaction of sustainable development?Very recently, visible light photoredox catalysis has been used as a novel and efficient means in the reaction of activating carboxylic acids.Carboxylic acids as an ideal way to generate acyl radicals, especially in radical functionalization photocatalytic self-decarboxylation attract chemist's interest. In this paper, the intramolecular acyl radical cyclization of various 2-phenyl benzoic compounds was developed around the visible light redox catalysis model.Attractive features of this process include generation of acyl radical, which quickly underdone intramolecular radical cyclization. This method marks the first photocatalytic intramolecular acyl radical coupling for constructing carbon-carbon bond, which further synthesize the valuable fluorenone products with mild conditions, good yields and good functional-group compatibility.
