With the development of economy and the improvement of living standard,people have higher requirements for the quality of clothes.However,the pilling of the fabric seriously affects the performance and serviceability of the fabric,so the evaluation of pilling grade of the fabric is very important.Subjective evaluation is a common method and it is evaluated by human vision,which is not only highly demanding for personnel,but also affected by test condition.At present,the types of fabrics are increasingly numerous,but there are few standard samples,which can also make an error in rating.As image processing technology for evaluating the pilling grade meets the objective requirements,this paper established an objective assessment method for fabric pilling image based on image processing to achieve the rating of different types of fabrics,which provided valuable information and suggestions for the pilling grade evaluation.1.This paper established an objective evaluation method for fabric pilling,including image acquirement,determination of fabric area and pilling area,filtration of fabric texture,elimination of light unevenness,image threshold segmentation,extraction of feature values and determination of discriminant function.The fabric area was determined by the method of image binarization and image filling,and the center of the fabric was extracted by the regionprops function.After then pilling area was obtained according to the center of the circle and the radius of the pilling area.2.Take the standard images(level 1 ~ 5)of worsted wool fabric as an example to verify the objective evaluation method of fabric pilling.The details are as follows: determining the fabric area and pilling area,filtrating of fabric texture,eliminating light unevenness,image threshold segmentation,removing area less than 22 pixels,extracting feature values and analyzing the relationship between pilling features and pilling grade.As a result,the number of pilling,the total area of pilling and the optical volume were chosen to measure the fabric pilling grade and established a rating template;By observing the feature values and pilling mark on fabric images,it can be concluded that the method established in this paper is effective in image processing and the extraction of feature values.The comparison of pilling features of round area and square area shows that the analysis of the whole circular area is more comprehensive.3.The fabric samples were graded according to the standard set of worsted wool fabric standard images.There was a big difference between the objective assessment results and the subjective assessment results,and the disagreement rate was 64%.The reasons of the difference are:(1)the volatility of subjective assessment results is very large,especially when there are more pills.It is easy to ignore the size of pills for evaluating the pills grade,which results in inaccurate assessment results;(2)fabric samples have diversity and particularity.For example,there are piles and wrinkles on the surface of fabrics,which can cause false judgments of pills information when the fabric samples are processed.In addition,pills of the standard samples are relatively big and the distribution is relatively uniform,but pills of the fabric samples are relatively small and not prominent.The pills of the standard samples and the fabric samples are different,which results in the missed detection of pills information and then ultimately affects the matching of the feature values with the standard sample.4.The subjective evaluation standard images of the cotton fabric were processed and the rating template was established.The fabric samples were graded according to this standard set of cotton fabric standard samples.The results show that there is a good agreement between the objective assessment results and the subjective assessment results.The evaluation accuracy is as high as 90%,thus the feasibility of the pilling grade evaluation of different fabrics by the objective evaluation method of fabric pilling level in this paper is verified.To a certain extent,the objective evaluation method of fabric pilling grade in this paper can achieve the objective assessment of the pilling grade of different fabrics and provide reference for the pilling grade assessment of different fabrics,which standardizes the fabric pilling rating mechanism.
