Fluorinated acrylate polymers with many unique physical and chemical properties including excellent oil and water repellency,aging,weather and chemical resistance,have been used in exterior coatings,leather,paper,and clothes.However,fluorinated acrylates are expensive,and adhesion property to various substrates is poor.But pure acrylates are easily obtained and the adhesion property is good.With self-stratification technology,the objective material films are obtained by blending fluorinated emulsion with fluorinate-free emulsion.Most of fluorinated acrylate exist in the film-air interface,and little in the film-substrate interface,and no obvious phase separation in the middle section of the films.Then the film will have excellent performance and a lower cost.In most emulsion polymerizations preparing films,emulsifier is an integral part,and it's effect on films has not been investigated thoroughly.In this paper,the effect of kinds of emulsifiers on the structure and properties of films was studied systematically.Fluorinated emulsions and fluorinate-free emulsions were prepared with anionic/active and anionic/nonionic/cationic emulsifier by one batch emulsion polymerization method.Blend fluorinated emulsions and fluorinate-free emulsions with mass ratio of 1:1,and film blend emulsions at room temperature,and gain blend films.The structure and properties of blend films were featured using AFM,SEM-EDS and Contact Angle instrument.On glass substrate dealing with chromic acid,film of fluorinated phase with nonionic emulsifier and fluorinate-free phase with active and anionic/nonionic emulsifier,has a good structure and performance and annealing 12 h at 120?,the above film gains a gradient structure.Blend emulsion of fluorinated phase with nonionic emulsifier and fluorinate-free phase with cationic is not stable and the emulsion can form stable film at room temperature,but the film has poor structure and property.Blend emulsion of fluorinated phase with cationic emulsifier and fluorinate-free phase with nonionic is not stable and the emulsion can't form whole film at room temperature.On Al substrate dealing with acetone and fine sandpaper,the film of fluorinated phase with nonionic emulsifier and fluorinate-free phase with anionic/nonionic emulsifier,or the film of fluorinated phase with anionic emulsifier and fluorinate-free phase with nonionic emulsifier has a good structure and performance and annealing 2h at 180?,the above film gains a gradient structure with fluorinated phase decreasing from film-air interface to film-substrate.On Al substrate dealing with chromic acid,the film of fluorinated phase with nonionic emulsifier and fluorinate-free phase with anionic emulsifier has a great gradient structure and performance annealing for 2h at 180?;the containing of fluorinated acrylate decreases from film-air interface to film-substrate interface gradually.
