In this paper,a novel copper-containing composite based on MVQ-LDPE polymer alloy for intrauterine device(IUD),i.e.,copper/silicon rubber/low-density polyethylene(Cu/MVQ/LDPE)composite,has been developed by using melt blending and injection molding technique.In order to ensure safety and effectiveness of the composite during storage and application period,the anti-aging properties of the composite were analyzed: First of all,formulating the accelerated aging experiment scheme of Cu/MVQ/LDPE composite according to the Arrhenius model and biomedical polymer materials aging test requirement,the conditions for accelerated aging experiments are 22 ? of ambient temperature,60? of accelerated aging tempereture and 90%RH of humidity;Then placing the composite in constant temperature humidity chamber for accelerated aging experiments;Finally the aging composite's structure,mechanical properities and cupric ions release behavior were investigated,the results of the study are as follows.Study on the strcture of the aging Cu/MVQ/LDPE conposite shows that the aging composite's structure was no obvious change,and it is still a simple hybrid of the pure Cu,the pure MVQ and the pure LDPE.Additionly with the increase of aging time,the crystallinity and glass transition temperature Tg of LDPE matrix gradually increased,while the molecular weight of LDPE matrix was no obvious change.Study on the mechanical properties of the aging Cu/MVQ/LDPE composite shows mechanical properties of the aging composite can satisfy the requirement of IUD.With the increase of aging time,the tensile strength of composite increased before remaining stable,the elongation at break of composite reduced before remaining stable,the elastic modulus of composite gradually increased.With the increase of the content of MVQ,the tensile strength of the aging composite decreased,the elongation at break and elastic modulus of the aging composite declined after little changed firstly.The Cu/MVQ/LDPE composite with 10% MVQ matrix content has the best anti-aging properties.Study on the copper ion release performance of the aging Cu/MVQ/LDPE composite shows Cu/MVQ/LDPE composites with different MVQ content after different aging time all have good copper ion release performance.The copper ion release rate of composite gradually decreased along with the increase of aging time and MVQ content.
