Electrosorption technology is a new water deionization treatment method, and the electrode material with excellent performance is the focus of its research. In this experiment, commercially available activated carbon with rich pore structure was selected as the electrode material, and the activated carbon material was subjected to ash-removing treatment with hydrochloric acid. The electrode preparation process, nitric acid modification, and modification process of the loaded titanium were studied. The physicochemical properties of the activated carbon were characterized by SEM,FTIR,BET,EDS,XRD,TEM,ash, iodine value, etc. The electrochemical properties of the activated carbon electrode were characterized by cyclic voltammetry;and the electrode adsorption performance was evaluated by desalting experiment..Hydrochloric acid pickling was used to pretreat commercial activated carbon. The results showed that HCl pickling reduced the surface impurities of activated carbon, the specific surface area increased by 18.3%,ash content decreased by 75%,and the iodine adsorption value increased significantly. This indicates that hydrochloric acid pickling increases the micropores of activated carbon and increases the specific surface area. The optimum conditions for nitric acid modification were as follows:HNO3concentration 10%,temperature 40°C,and time 3h.The specific surface area of??the activated carbon produced under this condition was 925.362 m2/g,and the specific capacitance was 92.37 F/g.After being modified by nitric acid, the acidic oxygen-containing functional groups of activated carbon increase.Orthogonal test was used to determine the optimum parameters of sol-gel modified activated carbon containing titanium:6 mL of butyl titanate,2 g of activated carbon,30mL of anhydrous ethanol,2 mL of glacial acetic acid, and 4.5 mL of deionized water.,0.25 mL of hydrochloric acid. The specific capacitance value of the activated carbon electrode modified with titanium dioxide was 115.28 F/g;the content of Ti element in the TiO2/AC electrode material was 24.7%.Preparation of HNO3/TiO2 modified activated carbon.Activated carbon coated electrodes were prepared by a layered steam coating method. The optimum ratio of the electrode preparation was obtained by single factor test and orthogonal test. The mass ratio of activated carbon, graphene microchip and polyvinylidene fluoride was10:0.9:0.8.The specific capacitance of the activated carbon coated electrode prepared was as high as 143.17 F/g.Electrodesorbent deionization experiments showed that the desalination efficiency of HNO3/TiO2 modified activated carbon electrode reached54.17%.
