304 stainless steel is widely used in industry and is one of the most commonly used metal materials.Stress corrosion cracking occurs in the process of using stainless steel,which always leads to disastrous consequences without foretaste.Factors that affect stress corrosion cracking including environmental temperature,pressure,corrosive medium,pH,concentration,stress,material composition and processing technology,etc.The effect of cold working on the stress corrosion of 304 austenitic stainless steel was studied in this work.The 304 austenitic stainless steel was cold rolled to different degrees.The microstructures of the materials were quantitatively observed by metallographic microscope.The composition of the material and the content of the martensite after cold working was analyzed by XRD test.The effect of cold working on dislocation propagation of 304 austenitic stainless steel by TEM test.The effect of cold working on the mechanical properties of the material was investigated by uniaxial tensile test.The relationship between the cold working and the sensitivity of pitting corrosion was studied by electrochemical test.The sensitivity of stress corrosion cracking was studied by slow strain rate test and constant load test.The experimental results demonstrated that the content of martensite,and the dislocation were all increased with the increase of the amount of cold rolling.The strength and hardness of the material increased,but the plasticity decreased;the pitting corrosion resistance increased firstly and then decreased with the increase of the degree of cold working.After different degrees of cold working,the materials' stress corrosion resistance firstly increased slightly then decreased with the increase of the amount of cold working.
