An efficient visible light photocatalyst cadmium sulfide was prepared with cadmium acetate and ordinary sodium sulfide as the raw materials via a facile ion exchange method.A series of polyvinyl chloride/CdS(PVC/CdS)nanocomposites were successfully synthesized by adsorbing a small amount of PVC on the surface of CdS via a chemisorption method.The PVC/CdS nanocomposites were heated at 150°C for 2h,leading to the removal of HCl from PVC molecules to form conjugated polymers CPVC,and CPVC/CdS nanocomposites were obtained.The CPVC/CdS nanocomposites were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction,atomic absorption spectroscopy,transmission electron microscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,photoluminescence spectroscopy,Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy,etc.The visible light photocatalytic performances of the CPVC/CdS nanocomposites were investigated by evaluating the photodegradation of methyl orange as a pollutant model.The results shows that a small amount of CPVC on the CdS surface hardly changes the crystalline and crystal size of CdS nanoparticles,while dramatically enhances its visible light absorbance and separation efficiency of photogenerated electrons and holes.Compared with pure CdS,the CPVC/CdS nanocomposites possess the higher visible light photocatalytic activity and improved antiphotocorrosion performance.In addition,CdS/CPVC organic composite films were prepared by heating the CdS/PVC films at 150°C for 3h,where the CdS/PVC films were obtained from a suspension containg CdS nanoparticles through a spin coating method.The as-prepared CdS/CPVC organic composite films possess excellent visible light photocatalytic activity.The visible light phtocatalytic activity of the composite film with CdS and CPVC mass ratio of 1:2.5 is ca.15 and 138 times of those the pure CdS and CPVC,respectively.The cycle experiment results reveal that the CdS/CPVC composite films still exhibited high visible light photocatalytic activity after 40 cycles,indicating that the as-prepared composite films possess excellent visible light photocatalytic stability.
