The quality of traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)is related to the effectiveness and safety of clinical application, directly. The high incidence of adverse reactions of TCM in clinic mainly results from the improper management in cultivation, harvesting and processing, improper storage methods, adulteration. In the past, the qulity of TCM was evaluated by"eyes, mouth, hands and nose",however, these methods were subjective and usually need the experienced persons. Now,the method for identification and qulity control of TCM were chromatography, mass spectrometry,et al,these methods usually required organic extraction and complicated operation, which is not suitable for rapid detection of TCM locally. Therefore,to establish an efficient method for the rapid quality control of TCM is imperative. The main parts of TCM were roots, stems, leaves, bark, flowers and fruits, and in present study, three of the main medicinal parts(roots, bark and fruit)were selected for the research of rapid quality control of TCM by NIR.The main contents of this paper were listed as follows:1.Determination of chemical components of Schisandra chinensis,Magnolia officinalis,Paeonia suffruicosa and Paeonia lactiflora by Ultra performance liquid chromatography(UPLC)The content of the four TCM,were established by UPLC due to the large sample size(each herbs are more than 100 parts).Methodological study showed that this mehods have high accuracy, short analysis time and can replace high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)in the content determination of chemical constituents.2.The establishment of NIR models in the quality evaluation of Schisandra chinensis,Magnolia officinalis,Paeonia suffruicosa and Paeonia lactifloraThe NIR spectrums of the four TCMs were obtained after optimized the parameters of test conditions(spectrum range, resolution, the size of powder and dryness). Finally, the NIR model of the four TSMs were established by partial least squares(PLS)method. The results were that the established quantitative models can quickly and accurately predict the total lignans of Schisandra chinensis,Magnolia of cinalis of Magnolia, honokiol and total phenolic content, predicted Paeonia suffruicosa of paeonol and paeoniflorin, and predicted Paeonia lactiflora of paeoniflorin. Moreover, this qualitative model can be successfully used for the identification of the species(north or south)of Schisandra, and the crude drug from sulfur smoked of Paeonia lactiflora.
