As the basis for the development of science and technology,composite materials are a kind of new material with great development prospects,which play a great role in promoting the progress of science and technology.With the development of science and technology as well as the improvement of people's environmental protection awareness,various types of novel composite materials and their preparation technologies are rapidly emerging.The development and application of high-performance composite materials are one of the important research directions for expanding their application scope.Among them,the research and development of environment-friendly polymer composites have become one of the effective methods to solve the ecological environment pollution.Therefore,the research on environment-friendly polymer composites is of great significance.In this study,poly?butylene succinate??PBS?as the matrix,with chitin whisker?CHW?,tetrapod-shaped zinc oxide whisker?T-ZnOW?as a reinforcing material,and the CHW/PBS and T-ZnOW/PBS composites were prepared by mixing method.The surface of CHW was modified by acetic anhydride,maleic anhydride and benzoyl chloride.The surface of T-ZnOW was modified by stearic acid,silane coupling agent KH560 and polyethylene glycol 2000?PEG2000?.The modified CHW and modified T-ZnOw were screened out with the best surface treatment effect,then the modified CHW/PBS and modified T-ZnOw/PBS composites were prepared.The structure and performance of these composites were measured by scanning electron microscopy?SEM?,X-ray diffraction?XRD?,polarizing microscope?POM?,thermogravimetric analysis?TG?,differential scanning calorimeter?DSC?and universal testing machine.The properties of the composites were tested to investigate that the effects of CHW and T-ZnOw on interfacial compatibility,crystallinity,thermal stability and mechanical properties of PBS composites.The main contents and results of this study are as follows:?1?CHW were prepared by hydrolyzing chitin with sulfuric acid.The results of transmission electron microscopy?TEM?,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy?FTIR?and XRD showed that the CHW obtained from the morphology,chemical composition and crystal structure proved to be the expected product.CHW have rod-like structure.The length?L?of CHW ranged from 25500nm and the average diameter?D?was 23 nm,and the corresponding aspect ratio?L/D?of 11 to 22.Acetic anhydride,maleic anhydride and benzoyl chloride on CHW modified successfully.Among them,the degree of substitution and water contact angle of ACHW obtained by the acylation of CHW by acetic anhydride were the largest,and the acylation of CHW was not change the crystal type of CHW.The modification of T-ZnOW with PEG2000,stearic acid and KH560 was successful.The activation index and water contact angle of ST-ZnOW obtained by modification of T-Zn OW by stearic acid were the highest,And the modification of T-ZnOW does not change the crystalline form of T-ZnOW.?2?CHW/PBS and ACHW/PBS composites were successfully prepared by melt blending method.The acylation of CHW with acetic anhydride improves the dispersibility of CHW in PBS and enhances the compatibility of CHW and PBS.The introduction of CHW and ACHW did not change the crystal type of PBS.However,the spherulite size of the composites decreased and the spherulite density increased with increasing ACHW content.Compared with the pure PBS and CHW/PBS composites,the thermal stability and mechanical properties of PBS significantly improved with ACHW.On one hand,during the pyrolysis process,the temperatures at 5%wight loss(Td-5%),the value of the pyrolysis temperature(Td-max)and the temperatures at 50%wight loss(Td-50%)reached the maximum value,on the other hand,the tensile strength and the elongation at break as well as up to maximum value,when the ACHW content was 3wt%.However,the thermal stability and mechanical properties of PBS show a decreasing trend when an excessive amount of ACHW is introduced.?3?T-ZnOW/PBS and ST-ZnOW/PBS composites were successfully prepared by blending method.The modification of T-ZnOW with stearic acid improves the dispersibility of T-Zn OW in PBS and enhances the compatibility of T-ZnOW and PBS.In the meanwhile,The introduction of T-ZnOW and ST-ZnOW did not change the crystal type of PBS.Compared with the pure PBS and T-ZnOW/PBS composites,the thermal stability of PBS obviously improved with ST-ZnOW.During the pyrolysis process,the temperatures at 10%wight loss(Td-10%),Td-max-max and melting temperature all improved,but the crystallization temperature slightly declined.At the same time,the mechanical properties of the composites exhibited a significant improvement in its tensile strength and elongation at break.?4?CHW/T-ZnOW/PBS and ACHW/ST-ZnOW/PBS composites were successfully prepared by melt blending method.Synergistic effect of the ACHW and ST-ZnOW hybrid fillers in the PBS composites,showing spatial network structure,and played a role in heterogeneous nucleation of PBS.The synergistic effect of ACHW and ST-ZnOW enhanced the thermal stability of PBS,and the effect of ACHW on the thermal stability of PBS was more significant than that of ST-ZnOW.Moreover,the synergistic effect between ACHW and ST-ZnOW also improved the mechanical properties of PBS.The effect of ST-ZnOW on the mechanical properties of PBS was more significant than that of ACHW.
