With the development of science,technology and culture in modern society,Bian embroidery that originates from the Northern Song is the representative one in Central China of Henan Kaifeng,which has an profound impact on the development history of embroideries in China.As the inheritance of Song embroidery,it’s a serious question that how to well protect the excellent cultural heritage.It’s very significant to record the process in words no matter in future or today.The thesis hope to make contributions to inherit and spread the Chinese traditional embroidery handicraft.This thesis mainly includes: Chapter One introduces the research background,purpose and significance,research contents and methods of Bian embroidery;Chapter Two expounds the origin and historical development of Bian embroidery including its inheritance ways,value and significance.Besides,Wang Suhua,the inheritor,and the process of creation of her masterpiece,Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival are introduced.Chapter Three analyses the aesthetic features of Bian embroidery from aspects of its regional cultural characteristics,patterns,colors,stitch and texture,etc.and concludes its differences from other four famous embroideries in terms of their origin,themes,masterpieces,embroideries and colors.Chapter Four states problems Bian embroidery faces in modern social development combined with development problems of the first listed company of embroidery in China.For example,how handicraft industry turns to marketization.Chapter Five elaborates concepts,features,status quo and future development trend of clothing and accessories design in detail.Chapter Six introduces the application of Bian embroidery in clothing through making its design style and design thought clear and dividing product lines.This thesis also puts forth corresponding solutions through field research,field visit and inquiry about the development of Bian embroidery industry.In modern social development,as people improve their living standard and change their aesthetic cognition and social formation,it’s the requirement to achieve innovation and reformation for Bian embroidery with demanding the cultural regeneration of Bian embroidery industry.While keeping its artistic characteristics,we also need to spread traditional culture in the round.Innovation is also the basic requirement to reserve its features.To make Bian embroidery well integrates into people’s life and better service modern society,it’s crucial to pay attention to both internal qualities and innovation of Bian embroidery.
