Poly(phenylene oxide)(PPO)has advantages such as excellent mechanical properties,thermal stability,electrical insulation,flame retardancy and water resistance,but disadvantages such as high melt viscosity,poor processing formability.Polyamide 66(PA66,Nylon 66)has advantages such as good solvent resistance and processability,but disadvantages like high water absorption,relatively low dimensional stability and heat resistance.PPO/PA66 alloy integrates the advantages of PPO and PA66.Because of its excellent properties,PPO/PA66 attracts more and more attentions.We have discussed the effect of compatibilizer on mechanical properties of PPO/PA66 alloy,and a kind of anti-static PPO/PA66 alloy with good mechanical properties have been prepared.After compared the effect of compatibility on PPO/PA66 alloy using compatibilizer RBO3 and MAH,we have found RBO3 leads in the compatibility of PPO/PA66 alloy.When RBO3 and compatibilizer MAH are added simultaneously,the alloy shows good mechanical properties due to synergetic compatibilization.The micromorphological and mechanical properties of PPO/PA66 were studied by the means of transmission electron microscope(TEM),scanning electron microscope(SEM),mechanical tester,and Molau test.The results showed that the homemade compatibilizer had an effect of in-situ compatibilization to PPO/PA66 alloy.Compared the influence of different g-PPO amount on mechanical properties of the alloy.In PPO/PA66(55/45)system,the tensile strength,impact strength and bending strength increased with the increase of g-PPO amount.Especially when the content of g-PPO was 25%,the alloy achieved optimum mechanical properties,and compatibilizing effect also more obvious.
