Ultrasonic processing has a very prominent technological advantages in difficult machining materials processing,has been widely concerned by domestic and foreign experts and scholars.The special machines for ultrasonic vibration machining have been manufactured in the domestic and overseas;however,this kind of special machine has the disadvantages of small application range,high fabricating cost and inferior universality,so the special machines are not conducive to popularization.In view of the above reasons,the ultrasonic vibration system is installed on the general machine tool in this research to meet the requirement of the ultrasonic vibration cutting in actual production.A two dimensional ultrasonic vibration turning device which is convenient to install on the lathe tool carrier is designed.At the same time,the experimental study is made on the austenitic 304 stainless steel materials which is difficult machining materials with a wide range of applications.The investigation will provide theoretical support and experimental basis for the progress and application of the ultrasonic elliptical vibration turning of difficult-to-cut materials.The main research contents of this paper are as follows.(1)in this paper,the development process of ultrasonic vibration cutting technology,domestic and foreign research status are summarized.The development trend of ultrasonic vibration cutting technology is analyzed,and the purpose and significance of this research are clarified.And introduced the situation of ultrasonic machining,the principle of ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting,the forming method of the track,the characteristics of cutting force and the advantages of ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting are clarified.(2)This paper introduces the basic knowledge of the transducer and horn,the cutting principle of ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting are studied,a clear idea of the design work of the head,head structure design work based on the established three-dimensional model.(3)The mechanical analysis of the working head by the finite element software ABAQUS,the natural frequency of the working head,the influence factors of the working head structure inherent frequency are analyzed,on the basis of the optimization of the working head.(4)the method of evaluating the surface quality of the machined surface by ultrasonic vibration turning.Of 304 austenitic stainless steel has no ultrasonic vibration turning test based on the design of the ultrasonic elliptical vibration turning system,comparative analysis of ultrasonic vibration turning and ordinary turning workpiece surface topography,and also studied the ultrasonic amplitude,cutting speed,cutting depth and feed rate on the surface roughness of Sa.(5)This paper introduces the main forms of tool wear,and makes a comparative analysis of the 304 stainless steel test with ultrasonic elliptical vibration device.The type of chip is also introduced,and the formation mechanism of chip formation in ultrasonic vibration turning is analyzed.The difference between ultrasonic vibration turning and cutting chip form is analyzed.Finally,the difficulties and deficiencies in the research process are summarized,and some suggestions for improvement are put forward.
