Mine dumps cover large areas,increasing rapidly and scattering in different places,which threaten people's life,living environment and property safety potentially.As located in the central part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,Jiama Copper Polymetallic Mine has its typical geological characteristics of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau: harsh regional climate,active crustal activity,steep terrain,large slope,high drop,rock fragmentation,gravel accumulation,ice and snow cover,snow water infiltration,sparse and fragile vegetation,and poor slope stability.Due to these unique environmental factors,natural disasters occur quite often.Through studying treatment and stability of high and steep slope of Nankeng and that of corner rock open-pit dump in Jiama Mine,factors affecting stability of loose slope in high-cold and high-altitude areas are taken on for avoiding any occurrence of landslide and debris flow disasters,protecting the safety of villages,roads and rivers downstream in the area,and improving the situation of soil erosion and environmental benefits.In this paper,physical and mechanical parameters of the rock and soil mass of the dump slope are determined by field test,direct shear test of bulk rock and soil,and measurement of natural rest angle of the dump slope;stability of the dump slope is studied with limit equilibrium analysis,reliability analysis and elastic-plastic finite element analysis;possibility of increasing final slope angle and step slope angle of the dump are analyzed,and dangerous sources of the dump are identified.All these yield in the current treatment scheme of high and steep slope.The reasonable slope angle,other parameters and the comprehensive treatment scheme obtained through the research of the high and steep slope in the dump is to be used as a reference for next designs,constructions and similar projects.The main research results are as follows:1.According to research and analysis,designed slopes of cornerstone and Nankeng dump(final angles: 22 degrees and 20 degrees respectively)are stable and have the potential possibility for increasing their own slope angles.2.According to analysis and calculation,reasonable slope angles recommended for diagonal rock and Nankeng dump are: cornerstone dump,26-28 degrees;Nankeng dump,27-29 degrees;step slope angles of both dump sites,35 degrees.Following these parameters,design of dump site is to be optimized.3.According to basic situation of existing dump,comprehensive treatment scheme of high and steep slope is formulated,pushing forward construction scheme with corresponding combined treatment of cutting,unloading and pressing foot of the slope.With the development of slope monitoring technology,slope monitoring technique measures aiming at Jiama Mine are set forth,specifically on slope radar monitoring system,slope reinforcement and other safety management systems.
