Palm fiber is a kind of natural fiber with good toughness and corrosion resistance,but it is limited in textile field due to its rough and poor softness.In recent years,in order to be eco-friendly,new biomass fiber has become research hotspots,such as cotton stalk fiber,pineapple leaf fiber,lotus fiber and palm fiber.The focus of this research is to use the organic acid-alkaline oxygen degumming method and the organic acid-alkaline oxygen-enzyme degumming method to degumming the palm fiber into spinnable fibers,and morphological structure and properties of the prepared palm fiber have been characterized.Finally,the palm fiber and the cotton fiber were mixed and spun out and the properties were analyzed.The specific research results are as follows:The untreated palm fiber was coarser and harder.The organic acid-alkaline oxygen degumming process was optimized by a series of single factor experiments and orthogonal experiments to obtain the optimum process:palm fibers were soaked in a 15 mL·L-1 H2SO4 and 100 mL·L-1 H2O2 solution in a water bath with the temperature maintained at 75? for 120 min,washed and dried,then placed in a solution of 17 g/L NaOH and 80mL/L H2O2 in a 90? water bath for 70 min,the diameter of the obtained palm fiber was 81.80 ± 9.17 ?m;Then palm fiber was treated with enzyme on this basis,obtaining the optimal processing:palm fiber was placed in a solution with 0.1%pectinase and pH 5.0 buffer,and in a 50? water bath for 60 min,modulus(softness index)of the prepared palm fiber dropped from 28.62±10.01 to 20.85±6.41 cN·dtex-1,the fiber diameter also dropped to 77.86±14.88?m.In order to further explore the spinnability of palm fiber,the structural properties of palm fiber treated by degumming under different conditions were analyzed.It was found that the gelatin including lignin and hemi-cellulose in palm fiber decreased after degumming,and the cellulose increased.The crystallinity is increased,too.The length of palm fiber after organic acid-alkaline oxygen degumming is 29.42 mm,which is close to the length of cotton fiber,fineness 5.48 tex,strength 0.57 cN/dtex,elongation 18.25%,but palm fiber degummed by organic acid-alkaline oxygen-enzyme,its fineness becomes finer and the flexibility becomes better,but the length and elongation are all lowered softly.The palm fiber prepared by the two methods can be blended with cotton fiber to produce 41.7 tex yarns.The performance tests of yarns with different blending ratios shows that when the palm fiber content reaches 35%,the yarn has the best performance.Palm fiber degummed organic acid-alkaline oxygen and cotton fiber were mixed and spinned,its overspun homogeneity is 21.1%,the hairiness 7.91,the strength 10.9 cN·tex-1,the elongation 8.7%,however,the organic acid-alkaline oxygen-enzyme degummed palm fiber and cotton blended yarns have slightly deteriorated unevenness,strength,snicks and nubs,but the hairiness has a decrease,indicating that the spinnability of the two kinds of prepared fibers is fine and similar.
