Polyarylate(PAR),also known as aromatic polyester,is a thermoplastic specialty engineering plastic with an aromatic ring and an ester bond in its molecular backbone.Polyarylate has excellent heat resistance and good mechanical properties due to its large chain of aromatic rings. It has a wide range of applications in the space field, electronics, automotive and machinery industries, medical supplies and daily necessities.Due to the poor solubility of polyarylate,it has limited its application in the fields of insulating varnish and coating. Therefore, the structure of tert-butylphenyl structure, diphenylmethylene and triphenylmethane is introduced into the polyarylate backbone to change the molecular structure of the polyarylate, and the solubility thereof is improved without lowering the thermal stability. The first part is the preparation of terephthaloyl chloride. The terephthalic acid was used as the raw material, pyridine was used as the catalyst, and the nucleophilic substitution reaction with thionyl chloride was carried out.The terephthalic acid chloride was successfully prepared. The optimum reaction conditions were explored and the melting point of the synthesized diacid chloride was determined.(Isomorphic isophthaloyl chloride)The second part is the preparation and characterization of 1-(4-tert-butylph enyl)-1,1-bis(4-hydroxy)phenylethane.Firstly,in the absence of a reaction solve nt,t-butylbenzene was used as a raw material,Using acetic anhydride as an ac ylation agent, and p-tert-butylacetophenone was successfully prepared by Friedel acylation.Secondly, different reaction temperatures were studied. The reaction time, the reaction ratio and the amount of catalyst used on the reaction;again, the structure was characterized by nuclear magnetic and infrared spectroscopy. Finally, using p-tert-butylacetophenone and phenol as raw materials,Mercaptoa cetic acid as a co-catalyst,1-(4-tert-butylphenyl)-1,1-di(4-hydroxyl)was successf ully prepared by electrophilic substitution reaction.Phenylethane was characteriz ed by NMR and IR spectroscopy. The third part is the preparation and properties of tert-butyl soluble bisphe nol AP type polyaryl ester.Starting from 1-(4-tert-butylphenyl)-1,1-bis(4-hydrox y)phenylethane with terephthaloyl chloride(TPC)and isophthaloyl chloride(IP C),A bisphenol AP type polyarylate(PAR-AP)containing tert-butyl group wasprepared by three methods of interfacial polycondensation,Solution condensati on and melting condensation, and FT-IR,UV-VIS,TGA,DSC and dissolution w ere used.Structural testing and other structural tests and performance tests on polyarylates. The optimum reaction conditions for the diphenyl chloride prepared by the nucleophilic substitution reaction are: In the presence of pyridine catalyst, the reaction temperature is 85?,the reaction time is 10 h,and the amount of the catalyst is 5%;The melting point of terephthaloyl chloride is 78-80?;p-tertbutylacetophenone synthesized by Friedel acylation,in the absence of solvent,Anhydrous aluminum trichloride is used as a catalyst, acetic anhydride is an ac ylating agent,tert-butylbenzene 0.1 mol,n(tert-butylbenzene): n(anhydrous alu minum chloride): n(acetic anhydride)= 1:3:2,the reaction temperature is 20?,the reaction time is 2 h,the yield of the product can reach 48%;the polyary late synthesized by the esterification reaction, the tert-butyl structure is introduc ed into the polymer backbone to change the poly The molecular structure of the aryl ester reduces the phase transition temperature of the polyarylate and i mproves its solubility. The polyarylatecontaining1-(4-tert-butylphenyl)-1,1-bis(4-hy droxy)phenylethane monomer has both high heat resistance and superior process ability.
