The petroleum and its derived oils play an important role in human production and life,and as important equipment capable of storing various oils in large quantities,oil storage tanks have been widely used in oil depots all over the word.However,improper management and flammable properties of oil as well as natural disasters increase the risk of oil storage tank fires.In this paper,the combustion characteristics of oil storage tank fires under multi-parameter coupling of different opening,horizontal airflow velocities,storage tank diameters and liquid level heights are studied experimentally in order to provide reference and guidance for the prevention and control of oil storage tank fires.And ANSYS is used to simulate numerically the temperature stress distribution of oil storage tank structure under temperature field.The seal ring is an important part of the structure of the oil storage tank.When flames of the oil tank fire approach the seal ring,flames will tilt,that is,the bounded sidewall fire.Rectangular burners and the sidewall are used to investigate the evolution law of the flame height of the oil storage tank under the effect of the seal ring.A linear correlation is founded between the dimensionless flame height and dimensionless heat release rate,and the dimension is based on the characteristic length S=B/2+L.And the model of bounded-sidewall flame height is developed.In the experimental part of this paper,the storage tanks with tank sizes and top opening sizes are used for research.The diameter is 30cm(the height is 10 cm,15cm and 30 cm,the top cover width is 4cm,7.5cm,11.5cm and 15cm),20cm(the height is 3cm,5cm,10 cm and 15 cm,the top cover width is 2.5cm,5.5cm,7.5cm and 10cm)and 10cm(3cm,5cm and 10 cm height,top cover width 3cm,4cm and 5cm),respectively.The camera,thermocouples and electronic balance are used to record flame lengths,temperature and fuel mass loss rates.The variation laws of flame length,temperature and fuel mass loss rate were obtained through the analysis,and a new model of flame length is developed under complex factors.In this paper,two sets of representative oil storage tanks are selected,and the two-dimensional axisymmetric plate model is established by ANSYS software.The boundary conditions and obtained temperature function are input,and then,the temperature stress of tank structure under the temperature field can be obtained.
