Graphene is a thin film made of carbon atoms in the shape of a honeycomb. The thickness of graphene is only one carbon atomic thick. As a new type of carbon nanomaterial, graphene has many excellent properties and has attracted much attention by scholars in many fields. In the field of microwave technology, the surface conductivity of graphene could be tuned by applied electric field or magnetic field, and it has great potential to be used in tunable antennas and passive devices. The research of this paper mainly focused on tunable terahertz antennas with graphene. In this paper,a tunable terahertz antenna based on graphene is mainly studied. The main work and innovations are summarized as follows:1.A new kind of sinusoidally-modulated leaky-wave Antenna with gapped graphene gibbons is proposed. The width of graphene ribbons and the distance between graphene ribbons are periodically distributed,to realize sinusoidally-modulation reactance surface. The surface impedance of antenna could be tunable by applying different DC voltages. So the antenna could achieve reconfigurable patterns at fixed frequency.2.A new Fabry-Perot resonant antenna based on graphene is proposed.Graphene as a layer of partially reflected surface could be used to construct Fabry-Perot resonant cavity. The resonant frequency of Fabry-Perot resonant could be electrically tunable by adjusting the chemical potential of graphene.A Fabry-Perot cavity based on graphene is placed above a waveguide antenna.By choosing the appropriate chemical potential, the gain of the antenna increases at different frequencies. Two kinds of tunable antennas based on graphene proposed in this paper have the advantages of simple structure and good tunability. They have great potential for application in the future terahertz electronic systems.
