Abstract/Summary:
The garments have experienced from the ancient wrap structure style with a relatively small amount of cutting to the modern human body-based precision cutting uniform structure from the development of the planar structure around the costumes worn by the human body.From the perspective of the human body,the development of the planar structure seems to fall into the insurmountable prescribed limits,but the more "rational" planar structure seems tohave other unknown possibilities from the perspective of modeling performance.As a new type of cutting,"subtractive cutting" is a hollow structure cutting method.It is generally based on the form of two-dimensional structure,which creates a three-dimensional shape by the form of "subtracting" the fabric.Subtraction cutting is different from the general three-dimensional modeling method.It stems from the fact that it regards the human body as a kind of "negative space".It subverts the stereotype that used to regard the human body as a plane or static stereo.It is a kind of three-dimensional modeling technique draping plane and stereoscopic cutting.The garments shaped by this technique are entangled in the fabric on the human body to create a expressive style of clothing.Even in a complete piece of negative-form structure,the structure and quantity of the cut are tailored by different forms of arrangement,distribution and recombination,resulting in thousands of hollow structure types.The effect of subtractive cropping is “random” based on the diversity of subtractive cuts.It is also this kind of randomness that makes the style of subtractive clothing full of personality and tension.This paper attempts to conduct exploration by the way of combination of subtractive cutting and traditional planar structure.It is hoped that the advantages and limitations of subtractive cutting can be explored through experiments and research,and new structures and shapes can be found in the process of combining traditional planar structures to coruscate the vitality of the planar structure.In addition,it is close to the needs and aesthetics of the current market in the process of design research to inherit the form and philosophy of traditional planar structure,which provides a design example for the application of subtractive cutting,thus promoting the further development of the traditional planar structure.
