So far,researches on the feeding of rubber cold feed extruders have focused on the improvement of the feeding structure,and little research has been done on the feeding mechanism.In this paper,the mechanism analysis and experimental studies on the rubber compound strip compressed under rotating disk are carried out.The experimental studies use different types and rotating speeds of discs to study the rotating compression of tread rubber,sidewall rubber and inner liner rubber in strip,so as to simulate the process of feeding rubber strip into the cold feed extruder.According to the viscoelasticity of the rubber,and combining with the compression deformation analysis of the rubber block under the vertical load,during the rotation of the rubber strip compression,there is elastic restoring pressure caused by compression deformation on both sides of the rotating disk.The above elastic restoring force is proved by the experimental results of smooth disc drawing the rubber strip,as well as the shape analysis of the rubber strip changed after the compression.The finite element simulation of the stress and strain response of the rubber sheet vertically compressed under the narrow wedge block was carried out by ABAQUS software.The pressure distribution was obtained from the experiment results and it is basically agreed with the trend of the finite element simulation results.There is a sharply pressure increase at the minimum gap of the wedge channel formed by the top surface of the disc and the metal wall.At room temperature(20?),the rubber sheet with high Mooney viscosity is difficult to pass through the wedge channel under the drawing of a smooth disc.The structures that increase the friction coefficient between the rubber and the top surface of the disc(such as the grooves on the top surface of the disc)improve the rubber strip-through,and the slip time is significantly reduced.Increasing the number of discs also improve rubber strip-through.In the process of the rubber compound strip compressed under rotating disc,the Mooney viscosity of the rubber is larger,the power consumption is larger.There is the phenomenon of friction to heat in the process,to cause the rubber temperature to rise significantlyThe above study results have important reference value and guiding significance for improvements of the feeding mechanism and feeding structure of the cold feed extruder.
