The magnetic abrasive finishing(MAF)has the advantages of high flexibility,strong adaptability and automatic updated magnetic abrasives.And it is suitable for complex surface machining.Since high-quality and high-precision surface can be obtained by this method,MAF is widely used in aerospace,precision measuring tools and grinding tools,automotive electronics and other industries.However,the efficiency of MAF is low and the machined surface quality is difficult to guarantee.To overcome these problems,an electromagnetic and permanent magnet vibration assisted grinding(EPMVG)technology is proposed and an EPMVG system is designed.Extensive experimental exploration is conducted,and the results show that the surface quality of EPMVG is greatly improved in comparison with MAF.At the same time,the influence law of various process parameters on EPMVG is obtained,therefore the optimum parameters are selected and the process specification is given.The main contents of the paper are as follows:(1)Research on electromagnetic permanent magnet drive mechanism and EPMVG mechanism.Based on the interaction force between the electromagnetic coil and the permanent magnet,a vibration head drive model is established,and the validity of the drive model is verified through simulations and experiments.Next,by establishing the movement model and force model of the magnetic brush,the effect of grinding pressure and motion trajectory on the quality of the machined surface is analyzed.And then MAF and EPMVG are compared.Finally,the mechanism of material removal is analyzed microscopically.(2)Design of EPMVG System.Based on the finite element method simulation optimization,the vibration grinding special CNC machine tool and vibration grinding head are designed.At the same time,the matching power supply is designed.The design of machine tool includes the main body structure,the spindle drive system,the linear feed system,and the machine tool attachment system.The design of grinding head includes housing,solenoid,permanent magnet and magnetic processing head.(3)System testing and experiments of EPMVG.First,to confirm whether the electromagnetic permanent magnet vibration head meets the needs for EPMVG,its acceleration output characteristics and displacement output characteristics are tested.Then the EPMVG experiments are conducted and the quality of the surface are measured by surface roughness and microscopic magnified images.Single factor analysis is used to study the influence law of current,frequency,rotation speed and other factors on the processing quality.Thus,the optimal parameters under this experimental condition are selected and the process specification is given.At the same time,the processing quality of MAF and EPMVG are compared.
