The performance and life of some key parts in intelligent manufacturing are more and more strict. For example,high-load hydraulic pumps, turbocharger high-speed bearings, etc.,these parts will inevitably have an instantaneous dry friction process in the starting stage, which requires that the workpiece also has good friction and wear performance without lubrication. However, the traditional wear-resistant materials can not meet the requirements of mechanical properties,so the research and preparation of friction-reducing coatings with good mechanical properties and friction and wear properties has important theoretical significance and engineering application value. In this paper, the anti-friction coating of Cu/C was prepared on copper alloy by magnetron sputtering. The coating doped with different carbon content was obtained by changing the sputtering current of C target. Then the surface and cross-section morphology, intrinsic hardness, bonding strength and the existing form of carbon in the coating were observed and tested, and the friction and wear properties of the copper/C coating were studied. The test results show that the surface and cross-section morphology of the coating are fine, without defects such as voids and layers, and the surface has obvious"cauliflower"shape. The cross-section shows obvious columnar crystal growth at low sputtering current of carbon target, and the columnar crystal is thick, which almost runs through the thickness of the coating. With the increase of carbon target current, the thickness of the coating increases, and the growth of columnar crystal is interrupted and loosened. With the increase of carbon content, the hardness of the coating decreases slightly, which is related to the increase of graphite content in the coating. With the increase of carbon target current, the bonding strength of film-base increases;with the increase of carbon target current, the preferred orientation growth of Copper Crystals on?111?crystal plane decreases, the disorder degree of carbon increases, and the graphite crystalline phase may exist in high-carbon coating;when carbon is low, only a single 1580 cm-1 peak exists, which is smaller graphite. With the increase of carbon target current,D peak appears, which indicates that the disorder degree of graphite in the coating increases. The friction coefficient and wear amount of the copper/C coating decrease with the increase of carbon target current. The friction coefficient decreases from 0.484 at 0A to 0.433 at 1.5A,11%and 14%respectively.The friction coefficient decreases by 17%and 27%compared with the matrix. The Cu/C coating prepared by magnetron sputtering has good friction and wear properties. The addition of carbon not only reduces the friction coefficient of the coating, but also effectively improves the oxidation wear and reduces the formation of hard oxide peeling from copper to form abrasive particles, which plays a role in reducing wear.
