One Aluminum Bronze QAl10-4-4 worm wheel was used in a kind of industrial products,been found testing passed rate instability problems.The analysis shows that domestic local worm wheel parts surface properties were not stable.Finally by using mechanical polishing process to treat the worm wheel one hour to replace the heat treatment worm wheel parts,as the result the product passed rate was very good.Then a series of experimental tests are carried out to analyze and verify,for demonstrating the influence of the mechanical vibration polishing process on the surface properties with aluminum bronze.In this paper,through a series of mechanical test specimens,the results shows that the mechanical vibration polishing process is able to make the performance of aluminum bronze surface better.Found a layer of about 0.010 mm thickness of surface grain refinement formed after vibration polishing an hour,the surface micro hardness of the work piece increased 20% HV0.1.Found the tensile strength was increased by 6% after vibration polishing 2 hours,the elongation rate was increased around 20%.The surface roughness values of the sample was decreased 1-2 level after polishing one hour.Found the workpiece surface forming a uniform residual compressive stress around-280 MPa after vibration polishing an hour.Based on the date of above the surface properties of these changes,a series of friction and wear experiment and observation and analysis were been done,found the samples surface friction coefficient decreased significantly,wear-resisting performance is significantly improved after polishing one hour.The efficiency of the worm gearing transmission is obviously increased after polishing QAl10-4-4 worm wheel one hour,and the efficiency of single stage worm gearing can be increased by more than 20%.
