With the rapid development and special design of steel structures and other materials,the ratio of height to diameter of tower equipment is more and more big,the equipment become more and more flexible and damping ratio decreases,which prompt the tower easy to vibrate in the wind and seismic.It can influence the normal operation and safe operation of the tower.Viscous dampers are a kind of stiffness and velocity dependent dampers,which are widely used in the vibration control of engineering structures.However,they are not yet applied in tower structures.Therefore,the performance study of the viscous dampers applied to the frame tower is carried out in this paper,in order to provide new ideas and new methods for the vibration control(wind induced vibration and seismic vibration)of the frame tower.In this paper,based on the theory of structural dynamics and the elastic similarity criterion,the experimental model of the frame tower is designed and manufactured,and a small double rod liquid viscous damper is designed for experimental research.The influence of viscous damper on the dynamic characteristics and vibration control effect of the frame tower under different damper parameters is studied by numerical simulation.The results show that the amplitude of the tower and the stress of the key parts can be effectively reduced under the action of wind load and seismic load when the damper is installed.With the increase of Cr and the decrease of Kr&?,the vibration control effect increase.Under the conditions of this paper,the displacement amplitude and the stress of key position are reduced by 80%and 90%respectively,and the damping ratio is increased by more than 4.5 times.With the increase of Cr and the decrease of?,the system kinetic energy KE,the strain energy SE and the system damping energy consumption NDE and the occupying ratio gradually decrease,while the energy consumption MDE and the occupying ratio all increase gradually,and the maximum proportion increased to more than 60%.The reasonable range of the damper parameters is determined considering the influence of the parameters of the damper on the damping effect synthetically,it is 1.30<K_r<2?1.65<C_r<3.30 and 0.2<?<0.8,which can obtain a better vibration reduction effect and the best economic benefit.It provides the theoretical basis and reference for the application of viscous dampers to the vibration control in the frame tower.
