Low permeability conventional reservoirs are contributing significantly to the oil and gas energy supply all over the world.Hydraulic fracturing is the key technology used to enhance the production from low permeability conventional reservoirs. One of the major improvements needed in the fracturing technology is to control and optimize the fracture length, width and height by mean of advancement of fracturing fluid and proppant type which creates feasible and high conductive fracture that results in production optimization. The high injection pressure, pump speed, proppant size, fracturing fluid and its viscosity are the major factors influencing in fracture design. The fracture behavior can be controlled and optimized by changing the values of these parameters.A PKN model is used for numerical simulation of fracture behavior, propagation and its geometry by using a proper fracture treatment and available data from SL field.FracproPT software is used for simulation of fracture behavior to analyze the effect of fracturing fluid, proppant type and injection rate on fracture behavior. The simulation result shows an effect of different parameters on fracture behavior.High viscosity fracturing fluid creates short and wide fracture width, whereas, the low viscosity fracturing fluid creates feasible fracture length.A proper fracture treatment and production plan is designed in this research for low permeability reservoir. The optimal fracture treatment can be determined through simulation analysis of different fracture characteristics which significantly guide for the actual production.
