The paper corrugation,paper honeycomb and plastics foam are three kinds of protective packaging materials.Making full use of the advantages of these three kinds of lightwei ght porous materials,developing mechanical properties and cushioning energy absorption characteristics of paper sandwich and polyethylene foam(EPE)composite layered structures have important academic significance and engineering value in the field of packaging protection for military/civil products.In this paper,the mechanical properties and cushioning energy ab sorption properties of paper sandwich and polyethylene foam(EPE)composite layered structures under static compression and drop impact compression were experimentally investigated.The main researches are as follows:Firstly,according to the impact acceleration-impact duration and stress-strain cu rves,the curve characteristics of different composite layered structures were analyzed and also the effects of different material combinations and honeycomb thicknesses of composite layered structures on peak acceleration and impact duration under drop impact were analyzed.The applicable external loading environment of different composite lay ered structures was obtained.Secon dly,based on the structural characteristics of corrugation sandwich and honeycomb sandwich,the deformation modes of paper corrugation and paper honeycomb in composite layered structures were analyzed,and the deformation results of different composite layered structures under static compression and drop impact were compared.Finally,the total energy absorption,unit volume energy absorption,specific energy absorption and stroke efficiency were calculated.The influences of impact mass and impact energy on the deformation modes and energy absorption characteristies of composite layered structures of paper honeycomb and EPE(honeycomb/EPE,honeycomb/EPE/honeycomb)and composite layered structures of paper corrugation and paper honeycomb(corrugation/honeycomb,corrugation/honeycomb/corrugation)and with different honeycomb thicknesses were compared and analyzed.
