From 21st century, the earth's ecological environment has deteriorated, and the depletion of petroleum resources has received more and more attention. The membrane separation technology has attracted much attention due to the advantages of friendly environment, high separation efficiency and energy conservation. For membrane separation technology, the most important is the separation membrane material, the polyarylether material has excellent dimensional stability, thermal stability, mechanical stability, good biocompatibility widely used in the fields of medicine, transportation and electronics. However, the hydrophobicity of polyarylether limits the applications. Therefore,it needs to be modified to improve its hydrophilicity. The effective method for modification is to introduce hydrophilic groups into polymer. In this paper, poly?phthalazinone ether sulfone?s contain pendant phenyl groups?PPES-Os?were prepared from 4-?4-hydroxyphenyl?-2,3-phthalazin-1-ketone?DHPZ?,4-?3-phenyl-4-hydroxyphenyl?-2,3-phthalazin-1-ketone?DHPZ-O?and 4,4'-dichlorodiphenylsulfone by nucleophilic polycondensation with different proportions of DHPZ and DHPZ-O.The structure of polymer was confirmed by 1H-NMR.In this paper,98%concentrated sulfuric acid was used as sulfonation reagent, chloroform was used as solvent.Sulfonated poly?phthalazinone ether sulfone?containing pendant phenyl groups?SPPES-Os?was prepared from poly?phthalazinone ether sulfone?containing pendant phenyl groups?PPES-Os?by using heterogenous sulfonation method. The structure of the polymer was confirmed by 1H-NMR and FT-IR.The thermal stability, solubility, intrinsic viscosity, and ion exchange capacity?IEC?of SPPES-Os were tesed. The homogeneous membranes were prepared by use solution casting method. The water uptake, swelling ratio, dynamic contact angle, water vapor adsorption and water vapor permeability of SPPES-Os membranes were tested. The results showed that the sulfonated PPES-Os have good hydrophilicity, water uptake of SPPES-Os membranes are above 9.0%at 25?,water vapor permeability at 48?are above 7.53×10-3 g/(h-1·cm2).The water vapor permeability increases with the increase of IEC,for the same membrane the water vapor permeability increases with the temperature increase. The sulfonated poly?phthalazinone ether sulfone?containing pendant phenyl groups composite membrane were prepared based on coating a SPPES-Os active layer on top of copoly?phthalazinone biphenyl ether sulfone??PPBES?support membrane. The water uptake, swelling ratio, dynamic contact angle, gas permeability and water vapor permeability of the composite membrane had been tested. With the increase of IEC,water uptake, swelling ratio and water vapor permeability of the composite membrane increased.Explored effects of heat temperature and heat time on the water vapor permeability of the composite membrane. The results of the investigation showed that the high heat temperature and long heat time composite membrane have lower water vapor permeation rates.Comparing the properties between homogeneous membrane and composite membrane, the swelling ratio of the composite membrane is smaller than homogeneous membrane, the dimensional stability in water is improved, the stability of the composite membrane in water is better than homogeneous membrane,The water vapor permeation rates of the composite membranes are affected by the preparation conditions.Such as the water vapor permeation rates of the composite membrane treated at 90?for 30 min is lower than homogeneous membrane. The water vapor permeation rates of the composite membrane treated at 90?for 20 min and treated at 80?for 30 min is higher than homogeneous membrane under the test conditions of 48?.
