Polybutylene terephthalate(PBT)is an important semicrystalline engineering plastics.It is widely used in electronic appliances,automobile parts,machinery,home appliances,medical devices,etc.due to its good heat resistance,weather resistance,drug resistance,good electrical properties and good gloss.Because it has good properties and is suitable for using in human body tested by the FDA,PBT gets more and more attention.Japan and Germany has developed a kind of dental clean device made by PBT material.This kind of device has superior performance than that made by metal material.But its low heat distortion temperature(HDT)limit its widely application because the need to disinfect in high temperature.To improve HDT of PBT,the effect of the different nucleating agents and their content and the different crystal conditions on the mechanical properties,crystal behavior and HDT has been investigated in detail.The results indicate that nucleating agents and heat treatment can improve HDT.Among three nucleating agents,C is the most effective.Using B and C as the binary nucleating agents is better.And heat treatment also improves HDT.When B and C together are used and the heat treatment condition is at 150?C for 2h,the HDT is above 150?C.
