In the process of road development,a large amount of aged asphalt mixture has been produced,resulting in a huge waste of resources,and occupying land and polluting the environment.Therefore,it is necessary to apply asphalt mixture recycling technology.With the development of asphalt recycling technology,there are more and more research about asphalt rejuvenators,and various asphalt rejuvenators are emerging.There are many types of asphalt rejuvenators,most of them are mixtures of resin compounds and synthetic oils in the petroleum industry.Petroleum-based rejuvenators have the disadvantages of environmental pollution,non-renewable,and harmful to human bodies,it is necessary to explore a non-petroleum-based substitute as asphalt rejuvenator.It is reported that Citrus peels are kinds of high-quality biological resource,which are rich in pigment,aromatic oil,pectin,bioflavonoid,etc.and other organic substances,which contain saturated components,aromatic components of organic matter,in line with the regeneration of asphalt Agent composition requirements.Every year,a large number of waste citrus peels are produced in the world,recycling of the effective components of them is an environmentally-friendly and potential technology.In this paper,the organic compounds with aromatic odor in citrus peel were extracted by steam distillation in the laboratory and prepared as bio-rejuvenator.The main chemical components of bio-rejuvenator were analyzed through gas chromatography-mass spectrometry,and the research on the regeneration of bio-rejuvenator on asphalt binders and asphalt mixtures were carried out.The main conclusions are as follows:1.The main chemical compounds of the bio-rejuvenator are monoterpenoids with single ring structure and aromatic compounds,which are similar to the saturated and aromatic fractions of asphalt.2.Penetration,softening point,viscosity,complex modulus,phase angle,low temperature stiffness modulus and m-value of aged asphalt binder,can be effectively improved with the addition of bio-rejuvenator.3.The low temperature crack resistance and water stability of the recycled asphalt mixture were obviously improved,which shows an excellent regeneration effect.4.The high temperature stability of the recycled asphalt mixture was ruduced in a cetain degree with the addition of bio-rejuvenator.5.Compared with K-rejuvenator,the bio-rejuvenator has the similar regeneration effect,and is derived from the waste citrus peel,which has better economical efficiency and environmental advantages.The research of this paper provides a new idea for the treatment of waste citrus peel,and help to the environmental protection,recycling of resources and sustainable development of society.The regeneration technology of bio-rejuvenator for asphalt pavement has great potential,but it is necessary to further explore the feasibility and economy of bio-rejuvenator industrial production and application.
