Alcohol amine/ethanol mixture solutions as new hybrid CO2 absorbent have received considerable attention due to the advantages of high absorption efficiency of low energy consumption for regeneration, nearly no corrosion to equipment and so on.The study on the thermodynamic properties of alcohol amine/ethanol solutions could provide necessary physical data for the industrial application in the process of CO2capture.In this work, densities and viscosities of solutions were measured using a vibrating U-tube densimeter and an iVisc capillary viscometer, respectively.Densities and viscosities of five alcohol amines?1-amino-2-propanol?MIPA?,N-?2-Aminoethyl?ethanolamine?AEEA?,3-amino-1-propanol?3-AP?,N-methyldiethanolamine?MDEA?and monoethanolamine?MEA??as well as ethanol were measured and the densities and viscosities of pure substances were compared with the literature to verify the reliability and accuracy of instruments.Furthermore, densities and viscosities of binary solutions for five alcohol amines+ethanol and four alcohol amines+MEA as wellasternarysolutionsMIPA/MEA/Ethanol,AEEA/MEA/Ethanol,3-AP/MEA/Ethanol and MDEA/MEA/Ethanol were measured. The volumetric properties, such as excess molar volume VE,partial molar volume V,partial molar volume at infinite dilutionV?and apparent molar volume V?were calculated through experimental densities. The excess molar volumes VE for binary and ternary solutions were fitted using Redlich-Kister equation and Singh et al.equation,respectively.The viscometric properties, such as viscosity deviation??and activation energy for viscosity flow Ea,were calculated from the experimental viscosities, and viscosities were fitted by Jouyban-Acree equation. The volumetric and viscometric properties were analyzed on the basis of intermolecular interactions between alcohol amine and ethanol molecules. The results show that the intermolecular interactions?hydrogen bond?between different molecules and packing effects lead to negative excess molar volumes of mixed solution. The excess molar volumes are related to the molecular structure and the strength of hydrogen bond between different molecules. The effect of self-association breakup between the same molecules on viscosities is greater, which causes negative viscosity deviations, and the effect of intermolecular interactions on viscosities is greater, which causes positive viscosity deviations.
