The paper studies mainly with the synthesis, magnetism and transport properties of heavy fermion material NdFe2Ga8.The methods of crystal growth are also introduced. The single crystals NdFe2Ga8 have been synthesized by Ga–flux. It has the same orthogonal structure as CeFe2Al8 with space group Pbam?No.55?.The samples are more sensitive for the magnetic fields along c-axis than to the magnetic field perpendicular to c-axis,indicating a strong magnetic anisotropy in the crystal.Magnetic measurements show an antiferromagnetic transition at TN=14.7 K.The data of electric resistivity exhibits a typical metal behavior at high temperature, but shows a sharp increase around 16.5 K.For H//c and magnetic field H=70 kOe,the resistivity exhibits a T-linear behavior from 2.07 to 15 K,showing a typical non-fermion liquid behavior, and the specific heat shows logT–linear behavior below 6 K,indicating it is close to the quantum critical point. At 2 K,the electronic specific heat coefficient?reaches 650mJ/mol-K2,indicating that it is a heavy fermion compound. The methods of crystal growth are introduced and some materials are grown successfully:The single crystal materials of Sr2Pb3,CuIr2S4,BiCuSeO,EuIn2As2,EuIn2P2 have been successfully synthesized by flux method; The single crystal materials of?-RuCl3 and CrI3 have been successfully synthesized by the chemical vapor transition method.
