The New Effect Of The Anti-connected Hybrid Aligned Nematic Cell

Based on the Landau-de Gennes theory and the relaxation iterative method,the behavior mechanism of the liquid crystals?LC?in the anti-connected hybrid aligned nematic?HAN?models was investigated.By building three different models with the four same rotation modes,the change of states and defect charges which appeared under the various of the cell gaps was the research objectives.LC system comprised with strong anchoring boundary conditions on the paralleled substrates and free boundary conditions on the side boundaries.The system was divided into left and right parts with orthogonal anchoring orientations which lead the system anti-connected by two HAN structures.Three models in this research only have differences in the anchoring conditions on top substrates.Thus,these models could be distinguished as aligned structure?model ??,left-misaligned structure?model ??,and the right-misaligned structure?model ??.Results show that for model ?,when cell gap d>d₀?10???is the characteristic length for biaxial order-parameter?,bistable states and quadruple energetically degenerate metastable states exist.When d_c<d?d₀,metastable states show a transition from inversion walls to wall defects,which means quadruple states transform into dual states,meanwhile,the bistable states maintain their characteristic.When d=d_c?7?,all states undergo a quasi-two dimensional order reconstruction?OR?process.For model ?&?,when cell gap d>d₀?11?,bistable states and quadruple metastable states exist.When d_c<d?d₀,bistable states and dual degenerate metastable states appear in model ?&?,because of the misaligned structure.Two of metastable states in quadruple metastable states with higher energy will transform into the rest with lower energy,with the decreasing of the cell gap.When d_c?7?,The biaxiality layer in model ?&? exist an abruption behavior,and this kind of OR structure were also quasi-two dimensional OR.
