E501T-1flux-cored wire is widely used in welding of carbon steel and low alloy high strength steel.Manganese-silicon alloy,as a deoxidation agent and an alloying additive,is one of the important components of E501t-1 core filler,it is one of the main factors that affect the quality of e501t-1 in the process of welding. In this paper, the influence of silicon-manganese ratio, particle size and surface quality of manganese-silicon alloy on E501T-1 welding wire is studied, which provides a basis for stabilizing the quality of welding wire from the aspects of material selection and environment control. On this basis,a quantitative evaluation method for manganese-silicon alloy is presented. The results show that the silicon-manganese ratio and particle size of siliconmanganese alloy filler have some influence on the mechanical properties of e501T-1 flux-cored wire deposited metal. The manganese-silicon alloy with silicon-manganese ratio of 20:65 can obtain good comprehensive performance and improve mechanical properties by about 5%.With the increase of the particle size of the alloy, both the Si and Mn content of the deposited metal decreased and the comprehensive performance decreased. The use of manganese-silicon alloy with 80 mesh(80%)can obtain good comprehensive performance, and the mechanical properties meet the requirements of China Classification Society' standards. The damp state of manganese-silicon alloy was simulated by immersion test. The manganese-silicon alloy with different surface oxidation state was prepared in different mediums. The results show that the surface oxidation of manganese-silicon alloy has a significant effect on the welding performance, which is one of the main reasons for the quality decline of welding wire.In the storage and use process, high temperature, high humidity environment and long time storage will cause further oxidation of manganese-silicon alloy, which leads to lower performance of the deposited metal. In the current production, the surface quality of manganese-silicon alloy is generally determined by observing the surface color of the alloys, and there is some uncertainty about the result of judgment.Based on the above research, this paper presents a method to quantitatively evaluate the surface quality of the alloy by measuring the oxygen content of manganesesilicon alloy,it is helpful for the effective control of welding quality in the actual production.
