In this paper,poly vinyl alcohol(PVA)based wear-resistant material was prepared by melting blend and solution casting.The effects of silane coupling agent,silicon carbide(SiC),oct-amino polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane(OAP-POSS)and PVA-g-POSS on the structure and properties of PVA based composite wear-resistant materials were studied respectively.The results of the study on the properties of PVA/SiC composites by silane coupling agent showed that the coupling agent can improve the interfacial bonding force between the PVA and SiC,and the wear resistance of PVA/SiC composites was greatly improved.When the coupling agent concentration is about 3%,the mechanical properties and wear resistance of PVA/SiC composites were improvedThe results of the study on the content and size of SiC found that for the concentration of a certain coupling agent,with the increase of SiC content,the strength,tensile strength and elongation at break increased first and then decreased and the bending strength and modulus of flexural modulus of PVA/SiC composites decreased first then increased.With the addition of SiC content,the wear resistance of PVA/SiC composites was further improved;compared with the micron SiC in higher content,the nano SiC could increase the wear resistance of PVA/SiC composites more significantly.In order to improve the interfacial bonding force between the filler and PVA matrix,nanosized OAP-POSS was selected to be filled into PVA matrix by melting blend.The results showed that hydrogen bonds were formed between OAP-POSS and PVA,and with the increase of OAP-POSS content,the tensile strength,elongation at break and flexural strength of PVA/OAP-POSS composite wear resistant material were improved,and the wear resistance of PVA/OAP-POSS composite was obviously improved.In order to further enhance the interaction force between the wear-resistant filler and the matrix,the oct-chloro propyl POSS was grafted onto the PVA chains through a chemical reaction by solution casting,and the PVA-g-POSS wear-resistant material linked by chemical bonds between PVA and POSS was prepared.The results showed that the oct-chloro propyl POSS was successfully grafted onto the hydroxyl group of PVA chains to form PVA-g-POSS,and with the increase of oct-chloro propyl POSS,the tensile modulus,fracture toughness and tensile modulus of the PVA-g-POSS nanocomposites wear-resistant material were obviously improved.The wear coefficient of PVA based wear-resistant composites was studied by Holm-Archard model.The wear resistance of PVA based wear-resistant materials in different systems showed that the addition of SiC was mainly contributed to adrasive wear of PVA based wear-resistant composites,and the addition of POSS was mainly contributed to adhesive wear of PVA based wear-resistant composites.
