The steel catenary riser(SCR)emerged in the 1980 s.Because of the low cost of the steel catenary riser,it becomes a key research object for marine risers which can be adapt to the high temperature and high pressure of the marine environment.Pigs are important tools for maintaining pipelines and improving oil and gas transmission efficiency.Different operating environments require specific clear management guidelines.Studying the dynamic characteristics during pigging process of SCR in deep-water environment is a great significance for guiding the pigging operation.Based on the finite element software,this paper considers the geometric nonlinearity of the catenary line and the nonlinearity of pipe-soil contact,the SCR model is modeled and compared with the results which are calculated by the catenary theory,the results are consistent.According to the finite element model,the response of the riser under the influence of wave loading and floating platform motion is analyzed,compared with the results that have been studied,the simulation results show that the stress size and the overall variation trend are reasonable.Under gravity and buoyancy forces,SCR articulated at both ends and presents the shape of a simple catenary.Under the influence of wave and floating platform movements,each point of the riser will have different dynamic response,and its movement will change with the position of riser regularly.The simulation of SCR during the pigging process found that the impact of the pigs will have local effects without influence from the marine environment and the stress concentration will occur at the location of the pigs,but the impact of the pigs on SCR will not be obvious when the marine environment is considered,It is proved that the movement of ocean currents and floating platforms is still the main influence.Based on the two theories of truncated design and metamorphism in mixed experiments,the physical model of SCR is designed to provide reference for small-scale experiment of large-scale pipelines.
