With the rapid development of petrochemical industry in China, people's demand for oil is increasing day by day,and the construction of petroleum storage tanks is also increasing. The dome roof tank is a common form for oil storage due to its simple manufacture and low cost.Petroleum is flammable, explosive, volatile, and can cause chain explosions of tanks, causing serious secondary disasters and environmental pollution. Therefore, the structural dynamic response analysis of storage tanks under external blast load is significant in engineering practice. The free-air explosion model is established by using the software ANSYS,and the process of the overpressure of shock wave is analyzed. Then the result is compared with current empirical formulae to verify the numerical simulation.Considering the coupling between petroleum, air, explosives and the wall of the dome roof tank as well as the nonlinearity of the material of tank wall, the analysis model of a single dome roof tank is established, and the structural dynamic response analysis of the tank under external blast load is carried out.The structural dynamic response of the tank under different explosive equivalent, different explosion locations and different liquid levels is analyzed, the propagation of shock wave under different conditions is studied.Furthermore, the regularities of effective stress and deformation of the tank are explored. Finally, the sensitive parameters are determined. The model of the twin dome roof tanks is established. The influence of explosive equivalent, explosive location and different arrangements between two tanks is analyzed. The similarities and differences between the external explosion responses of single tank and twin tanks are carried out. Some conclusions of this thesis can be helpful for structural design and safety protection of dome roof tanks.
