China is the largest producer and consumer of calcium carbide in the world.And calcium carbide was once the "mother of organic chemical industry".However,its production is of high energy consumption and pollution,and the downstream products are relatively single.Now the research mainly focuses on the new application of its chemical properties.CaC2 contains up to 37.4%carbon and its anion[C?C]2-shows diversified properties like Lewis strong alkalinity,reducibility and nucleophilic reactivity.In recent years,preparation of novel carbon materials by CaC2 is reported successively,but the reaction needs high temperature and pressure conditions.For this,mechanochemical reaction at mild conditions in a ball mill can solve this problem,whereby the lattice structure of CaC2 is destroyed dynamically,the alkynyl ions exposed utmostly,and its reactivity increased greatly by the intensive collision.This paper is mainly focused on preparation of a series of novel carbon composite materials by mechanochemical reaction of calcium carbide with several transition metal oxides in a planetary ball mill,as well as their application as sorbent,catalyst and electrode materials.The results show that carbon composite materials(C-Mns)can be prepared easily by ball milling reaction of CaC2 and MnO2 with different mass ratio,and they show excellent adsorption performance for heavy metal ions in water and poor electrochemical properties.C-Mns is a novel micro-mesoporous material,which is rich in alkyne,hydroxyl groups and manganese oxides in different valence states.The adsorption behavior of C-Mn1 for heavy metal ions was studied in detail.Its Langumir saturated adsorption of Pb2+ at room temperature was 404.38 mg·g-1.Further,it also has excellent adsorption performance for other heavy metal ions(Hg2+?Cr3+?Cd2+?Zn2+?Cu2+),being a universal sorbent for heavy metal ions.Carbon materials(C-MOx)prepared by CaC2 and other transition metal oxides also have different but promising adsorption performance for heavy metal ions.As a control experiment,the carbon composite materials(AC-MOx)have been prepared by ball milling AC and transition metal oxides.Among them,AC-Mn1 derived from activated carbon and MnO2 shows excellent adsorption performance for Pb2+ due to its abundant hydroxyl groups.In addition,the W-containing carbon material obtained by ball milling CaC2 and Na2WO4 can be used as a catalyst for the oxidation of DBT in model oil by H2O2.
