Rotating Millimeter Channel Reactor(RMCR)is one of novel process intensification equipment, which utilizes centrifugal force and coriolis force to intensify the liquid flow inside the RMCR.Consequently, the mixing performance of the RMCR was enhanced. The mixing performance plays an important role on the reactor scale-up,product yield, and selectivity. In this work, the mixing performance of the RMCR was investigated. The effects of inlet structure, rotational speed, momentum ratio, liquid flow rate, and viscosity on macromixing performance were studied by using computational fluid dynamics(CFD)tool. The segregation intensity(Is)and macromixing time(?95)of the various operation conditions were calculated and compared. Then, the micromixing performance of the RMCR was studied by using the iodide-iodate parallel competition reaction system. The segregation index(Xs)and micromixing time(tm)of the various operation conditions were obtained. The results showed that the consistent effects on both macromixing and micromixing performance were observed under some operation conditions(inlet structures, rotational speeds, fluid flow rate and so on).The main conclusions were as follows:(1)CFD simulation was used to display the macromixing performance in the RMCR qualitatively and quantitatively. The results showed that the cross-shaped junction was the optimal inlet structure of the RMCR.The Is and?95 decreased by increasing the rotational speed, momentum ratio, and fluid flow rate. Thus, the macromixing performance of the RMCR was improved. The Is and ?95 were significantly increased when the viscosity of liquid was increased, which means that the macromixing performance of the RMCR was decreased.(2)In the micromixing experiment, the cross-shaped junction was still the optimal inlet structure of the RMCR.The Xs and tm decreased by increasing the rotational speed and fluid flow rate.Consequently, the micromixing performance of the RMCR was improved. The Xs and tm increased when the viscosity, hydrogen ion concentration and volumetric flow ratio of the two solutions were increased, indicating that the micromixing performance of the RMCR were deteriorated.Based on the agglomeration model,tm of the RMCR was 10-6 to 10-4 s.The micromixing performance of the RMCR was considerable in comparison with other reactors.
