Polyurethane foam has many excellent properties such as light weight,insulation,ventilation,sound insulation and heat preservation,which are widely used in production and life.However,polyurethane foam is flammable.In case of fire,it will seriously endanger the life and property of personnel.According to the high thermal stability and mechanical properties of carbon nanotubes,the use of carbon nanotube modified polyurethane foam may play a certain flame retardant.effect.In this paper,the flame retardancy of MWCNTs / polyurethane foam composites,amino modified carbon nanotubes / polyurethane foam composites and carboxyl modified carbon nanotubes / polyurethane foam composites were systematically studied and analyzed by using thermogravimetric differential thermal synchrotron analyzer,oxygen index instrument,cone calorimeter and scanning electron microscope.The effects of three kinds of carbon nanotubes on the pyrolysis characteristics,exothermic characteristics,smoke production characteristics,oxygen content of continuous combustion,and the morphological difference before and after modification were investigated.The results show that the multi wall / amino modified / carboxyl modified carbon nanotubes have certain flame retardancy effect on polyurethane foam in three aspects: pyrolysis,combustion and flue gas.The pyrolysis of 3% multi walled carbon nanotubes has the best inhibitory effect.For combustion and smoke characteristics,1% MWCNT has the best flame retardant effect.
