Geographical space is an important carrier of the natural system and socio-economic system. It’s an important measure to optimize the pattern of geographical space for the continuous advancement of China’s ecological civilization construction and the smooth reform of the spatial planning system. It is also a major strategic issue for the sustainable development of regional society and economy. At present, problems such as encroachment of agricultural production space, intensification of rural hollowing out, squeezed ecological space, and imbalance of space function attributes have constituted severe challenges to regional social and economic development and ecological protection. Therefore, under the background of the continuous advancement of ecological civilization construction and the deepening of the reform of the spatial planning system, how to realize the orderly development of geographical space and the coordinated development of regional socio-economic and ecological protection are not only a hot issue in academic circles in recent years, but also social key issues of concern to all sectors. From the related researches of geographical space, the optimization of geographical space pattern based on the“production-living-ecological”perspective is the mainstream.Due to differences in social background and research perspectives, there is no unified standard in terms of space type division and function identification. Also, the researches on the optimization of geographical space pattern focus on the guidance of macro-regions,but still insufficient on the practical guidance and operability.Based on these, this paper takes the"production-living-ecological"theory as the basis, and follows the logical idea of"spatial features-function identification-pattern optimization".Jiangjin District in Chongqing is selected as the research area.Based on the analysis of the quantitative structure and spatial distribution of the geographical space in the study area, this paper quantitatively identifies the“production-living-ecological”function level and spatial-temporal change characteristics of the geographical space by using the evaluation and exploratory spatial data analysis methods. And then this paper comprehensively determines the type of comparative advantage functional combination of geographical space in the study area, through the comparative advantage function index and three-dimensional magic cube chart. Also a multi-scale spatial clustering model is introduced to form a"county, town, and village"three-level geographical space function zoning system, and then determines the optimization control strategy and implementation suggestions based on the"production-living-ecological"function coordination.Through research, the main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)There are obvious differences in the quantitative structure and spatial layout of the study area’s geographical space, and it shows different characteristics and trends over time.According to previous research experience and the actual conditions of the region,with“production-living-ecology”as the leading functions, and taking into account the multi-functionality of geographical space and land use types, this paper constructs a geographical space classification system, which is divided into 5 types of production space, living space, ecological space,production-ecological space and production-living space. And quantitative geography analysis method is used to obtain the quantitative structure and spatial distribution characteristics of the study area.?In the study area,production-ecological space and ecological space are the main types of space. The scale of production-ecological space accounted for more than 50%at three points in the study period, but due to the impact of economic development and population growth,it showed a decreasing trend, especially during 2013-2017,the scale changed significantly, reducing a total of 4485.33 hm~2.It is the main source of land for the remaining four types of space. The ecological space is the second largest space in the research area.Affected by regional economic development and the implementation of ecological environmental protection policies,it showed a trend of first decrease and then increase during 2009-2017.After2013,the dynamic growth rate reversed by 0.52%.The remaining three types of space accounted for less than 10%of the area, and they showed a rapid growth trend in general, and were the main transfer spaces in the area transfer process.?From the perspective of spatial pattern, each type of space exhibits significant spatial heterogeneity due to the influence of terrain altitude and economic development level. The ecological space is concentrated in the areas with high altitude and undulating terrain such as Simianshan town,Siping town, and Zhongshan town in the south of the study area. The remaining four types of space are concentrated in the relatively flat terrain and relatively economic development level in the northern of the study area. From the perspective of development direction and spreading trend, all kinds of spaces have changed dramatically in Shuangfu street,Degan street and Luohuang town.Living space and production-living space are gradually converging and expanding in these areas, while production-ecological space is gradually shrinking, which shows that human activities such as economic development, population aggregation and so on,are more active in these areas(2)During 2009-2017,the functional utility level of“production-living-ecological”in the study area overall shows an increasing trend, and various functions show an unbalanced development trend in structural change, and show significant heterogeneity in spatial pattern.?From the perspective of structural change, the utility of the"production-living-ecological"function in the study area is generally increasing.Production function is the main function.Influenced by regional economic development, population growth and policy time lag, ecological function obviously lags behind production function and living function. However, after 2013,the ecological function utility level of the study area increased by 23.68%.It shows that the regional ecological protection shows a good trend. In terms of secondary functions, agricultural production, industrial production, life support and biological protection are the main functions.During 2009-2017,the secondary functions of production and living functions continued to grow, among which the industrial production function grew significantly, while the secondary functions of ecological function mostly showed a trend of decreasing first and then increasing.?Influenced by many factors such as topography and water source conditions, economic development level and human interference intensity,the“production-living-ecological”functions of the geographical space in the study area present heterogeneity characteristics. The high-value areas of production and living functions are concentrated in the north and northeast of the study area, and tend to spread to Luohuang town in the northeast. The high-value areas of ecological function are concentrated in the southern part of the study area.During 2009-2017,affected by human activities and ecological protection policies, the ecological function in the northern mountains of the study area showed a downward and upward trend. From the perspective of secondary functions, agricultural production function is concentrated in the northwest of the research area, while industrial production function is concentrated in the north and northeast.During the period of 2009 and 2017,the two functions show a trend of moving in and out of Luohuang town in the northeast. The secondary functions related to living function are similar to the primary function in spatial distribution. However, during 2009-2017,the hot area of residential bearing function showed a trend of transfer from Shuangfu street in the north to Luohuang town in the northeast, and the living security function showed a trend of expansion and spread around the existing hot spots. In 2009-2017,the secondary function of ecological function showed a complex and unbalanced development trend,in which soil conservation function was concentrated in the relatively flat terrain area in the middle of the study area, and gradually declined in the northeast of the study area. The hot spots of other secondary functions were basically the same as the high value areas of ecological function, but the change trends were different. From the perspective of spatial autocorrelation analysis,in 2009-2017,the degree of living function aggregation gradually increased, and production, ecological functions and their secondary functions showed a slight trend of spatial dispersion, indicating that human activities gradually strengthened the impact on land and space, but the multi-functional dispersion may increase the difficulty of regional planning and consolidation.(3)Based on the characteristics of geographical space in spatial structure and layout and the result of functional attribute feature evaluation, this paper comprehensively use the comparative advantage function index,three-dimensional Rubik’s cube method, and multi-scale spatial clustering model to form a“county-town-village”three-level function division system. It can effectively provide reference for regional land space pattern optimization and policy formulation. The various comparative advantage functions in the study area show significant spatial differentiation characteristics, and their distribution characteristics are basically similar to the distribution of the“production-living-ecological”functions.Combining regional topography and geomorphology, development conditions and nature protection conditions,a multi-scale spatial clustering model is introduced to form a three-level land-space functional zoning system in the study area, including counties, towns, and villages, which includes 32 comprehensive functional areas and 155 comprehensive functional subareas and 789 functional communities. In order to achieve the coordinated development of each functional zone, according to the characteristics of each functional zone, the practical problems and the configuration relationship with the type of geographical space, corresponding zone optimization strategies and multiscale implementation recommendations are proposed.
