A Case Study Of Kunlun Bank's Introduction Of Strategic Investors To Business Its Performance

Urban commercial banks have experienced nearly 30 years of development in China,and have gradually formed a mature financial system.Based on the local,urban commercial banks provide professional credit services and financial means for local residents and small and micro enterprises,and have made significant contributions to the development and improvement of China's financial system and the economic development of the region where the urban commercial banks are located.Because urban commercial banks are reformed from urban credit cooperatives,there are congenital problems such as insufficient capital sources,unreasonable corporate governance structure,high risk of internal control operation and low asset quality.In the 30 years of development,urban commercial banks have been seeking their own reform and development.Among them,the introduction of strategic investors is an effective way to solve the difficulties faced by urban commercial banks.Many urban commercial banks have embarked on the road of introducing strategic investors with obvious results.Kunlun Bank(formerly known as Karamay City Commercial Bank)introduced the strategic investment of CNPC,a central enterprise group,which is a successful case for small and medium-sized city commercial banks to introduce strategic investors.In order to continuously expand the scale of operation and rely on the advantages of CNPC group,Karamay commercial bank introduced the strategic investment of CNPC group in 2009.After CNPC group became a shareholder,Karamay City Commercial Bank changed its name to Kunlun bank,and began to take the road of industry and finance.All operation index data were improved: effectively supplemented capital;implemented the development strategy of industry and finance integration,carried out the characteristic business of petroleum and petrochemical supply chain;strengthened the development ability and profitability of the bank;introduced healthy and effective management mode,etc.In the past decade of restructuring,Kunlun bank has grown from a regional urban commercial bank to a commercial bank with a certain influence at home and abroad and distinct characteristics of industry finance integration.Starting from the research background and significance of introducing strategic investors into commercial banks,this paper discusses the research status at home and abroad,establishes the theoretical basis of this study,and clarifies the research content,methods and objectives.Taking the strategic investment of Kunlun bank into CNPC group as the main case,this paper introduces the basic situation of Kunlun bank and CNPC group,the process and results of introducing strategic investment of Kunlun bank.In the case study,firstly,this paper analyzes the motivation of introducing strategic investors into Kunlun bank and discusses the governance participation of strategic investors in Kunlun bank.Then,combined with the theoretical basis of this paper,it analyzes the operation of Kunlun bank after the " introducing strategic investors ".Finally,it analyzes its performance based on the financial index analysis and EVA value method.In addition,this paper selects Zhuhai China Resources Bank as a comparative case to carry out a comparative analysis of business performance,in order to explore the effect of introducing strategic investors on the business performance of commercial banks.Finally,the paper discusses the reference significance of strategic investment of Kunlun bank into CNPC group to the strategic investment of large-scale entity enterprises and the operation strategy of the combination of industry and finance.
