Research On The Impact Of Green Technology Innovation On China's Manufacturing Upgrading

Since reform and opening up,China's economic construction has achieved remarkable results in 40 years,China's GDP accounted for less than 2% of the world's share in 1978,rising to 16% in 2018.However,we should clearly recognize the problems in China's economic development: The rapid economic development comes at the cost of environmental degradation.At present,China's economic development has entered a “new normal”.This also means that economic development can no longer follow the original old path of “polluting first,treating last”.Instead,we should focus on technological innovation,reduce environmental pollution,and adhere to high-quality economic growth.Chairman Xi Jinping clearly stated in the report of the 19 th National Congress of the CPC that ecological environment protection should be placed in a more prominent position.We want both clean water and green mountains,and also economy.Manufacturing is the pillar industry of the national economy.In 2015,China officially released “Made in China 2025”,emphasizing that the development of manufacturing industry must ensure quality,pay attention to ecological protection,increase innovation and strengthen professional personnel training.It strives to enter the ranks of manufacturing powerhouses by 2025.As a big manufacturing country,China has long been at the bottom of the manufacturing value chain.To enter the ranks of manufacturing powerhouses,it must transform and upgrade the manufacturing industry.Under the current national conditions in China,the upgrading of the manufacturing industry must stick to green development.This paper mainly uses the manufacturing panel data of 30 provinces which excludes Tibet,Macau,Hong Kong and Taiwan in China from 2006 to 2016 to empirically analyze the impact of green technology innovation on China's manufacturing upgrading.The result shows as following: First,the level of green technology innovation in China increased at the beginning,then decreased,and then increased.Decreasing in order by eastern region,central region,northeast region,and western region.Second,there is a “U” relationship between the level of green technology innovation and the level of China's manufacturing upgrade.At present,the level of China's manufacturing upgrading is on the right side of the “U” shape.That is,with the improvement of green technology innovation level,China's manufacturing upgrading level will be further strengthened,but the turning points are different from different regions.Finally,based on the conclusions,this paper gives some suggestions,and prospects for the upgrading of China's manufacturing industry is also pointed out.At the same time,the shortcomings of this study are also pointed out.
