| Objective: The prevalence of sick building syndrome(SBS)remains high since it was found.With the upgrading of building technology,building materials,indoor articles and ventilation facilities,the problems of indoor environment and SBS symptoms are more and more prominent.In the past research,we have investigated the public places such as office,school,hospital,underground supermarket,etc.But studies have not come to the same conclusion about the influencing factors of SBS.However,we have paid less attention to the indoor environment of family living.Therefore,this study investigated the prevalence of unhealthy building syndrome among adults in Fuxin City,Liaoning Province by cross-sectional survey.And we analyzed the relationship between family living environment factors and unhealthy building syndrome,so as to provide theoretical basis for preventing and controlling the occurrence of SBS and improving the quality of family living environment.Methods: The occurrence of SBS symptoms and the factors of family living environment are described by frequency and percentage.Chi square test was used to compare the prevalence of various SBS symptoms among different genders,people with asthma or allergies,and people with smoking.By using multi factor Logistic regression model,the relationship between SBS symptoms and various family living factors was analyzed.Two models were established to control potential confounding factors.According to gender,asthma or allergy,stratified analysis was carried out.OR value and 95% confidence interval were used to describe the regression analysis results.All the tests were completed by SPSS 21.0 software and double-sided test.The significance level was α = 0.05.Results: 1.A total of 3260 children’s parents were included in this study as the research subject.And 3083 of these subjects have completed the questionnaire survey of SBS symptoms.The overall questionnaire completion rate is 94.57%.2.All three SBS symptoms accounted for 26.1%,of which 71.3% were general symptoms,53.9% were mucosal symptoms,and 32.1% were skin symptoms.3.Among the environmental factors around the house,the housing type is that the building reduces the risk of three SBS symptoms(OR =0.57,95% CI:0.38-0.84),the residential area belongs to the industrial area(OR =4.35,95% CI:2.07-9.14),there is a foul ditch within 100 meters around the house(OR =2.88,95% CI:1.60-5.17),chemical pollution(OR =2.83,95% CI:1.32-6.06)and dust pollution(OR =1.87,95% CI:1.15-3.05).50-200 m(OR =1.29,95% CI:1.03-1.63),≤50 m(OR =1.54,95% CI:1.18-2.01),residential distance from factory(OR =4.43,95% CI:3.21-6.11),chimney distance(OR =3.42,95% CI:2.53-4.62)is less than 500 m,increasing the risk of occurrence of three SBS symptoms.4.The subjects in the study who purchased the new furniture had a 2.3-fold risk of developing three SBS symptoms(OR =2.30,95% CI: 1.87-2.85).The risk of developing three SBS symptoms in decorated families was 1.98 times higher(OR =1.98,95% CI: 1.59-2.47).compared with cement flooring,the risk of developing SBS symptoms was 1.72 times in families with fortified wood flooring(or =1.72,95% ci:1.06-2.78).The risk of paint wall material occurring in three SBS symptoms was 8.74 times that of cement wall(OR =8.74,95% CI:4.73-16.15).5.The risk of developing three SBS symptoms in clothing bedding was 2.68 times higher in the reference group(OR =2.68,95% CI:2.16-3.32).The risk of developing three SBS symptoms compared to the reference group was 0.38 times that of the reference group(OR =0.38,95% CI: 0.25-0.56).There was condensation of water vapor on the inside of the window(OR =2.23,95% CI: 1.80-2.77),and moldy walls due to damp(OR =1.98,95% CI: 1.40-2.82)were statistically significant in the three SBS symptoms.The three SBS symptoms were found in the house(OR =2.54,95% CI: 2.04-3.16),mice(OR =5.11,95% CI: 3.78-6.89)and fly mosquitoes(OR =3.83,95% CI: 2.51-5.84)at higher risk than in the reference group.The subjects who raised small animals at home had a 47% increased risk of developing three SBS symptoms(OR =1.47,95% CI: 1.10-1.96).The risk of developing three SBS symptoms with mosquito incense repellent increased by 46%(OR =1.46,95% CI: 1.18-1.80);the risk of using incense to develop three SBS symptoms increased by 279%(OR =3.79,95% CI:2.84-5.06).7.Poorly ventilated non-fresh odors(OR =4.24,95% CI:3.40-5.28),unpleasant odors(OR =4.34,95% CI:3.34-5.48),irritating odors(OR =7.00,95% CI:5.04-9.72),mildew odors(OR =9.33,95% CI:6.54-13.31),tobacco odors(OR =3.74,95% CI:2.96-4.72),moist air(OR =4.37,95% CI:3.39-5.63),dry air sensations(OR =3.39,95% CI:2.73-4.19)were statistically significant among the three SBS symptoms.Conclusions: 1.The prevalence of adult poor building syndrome is high in Fuxin,Liaoning Province.2.The main outdoor environmental risk factors affecting adult bad building syndrome are: housing area is industrial area(referring to residential area),and around the home.Within 100 meters,there are odorous ditch,chemical pollution,dust pollution,the distance between the residence and the trunk line is less than 200 meters,and the distance between the factory and the chimney is less than 500 meters.3.The main indoor environmental risk factors affecting adult bad building syndrome are: new furniture,decoration,reinforced wood flooring(take concrete floor as reference),paint walls,clothing bedding dampness,moisture condensation inside the windows in winter,and home wall dampness.And mold,found mice,cockroaches,flies and mosquitoes at home,use of mosquito coils,incense,stale odors with poor ventilation,unpleasant odors,irritating odors,moldy odors,tobacco odors,feel humid air,feel dry air;Protective factor is often drying the bedding in the sun. |
