The rapid development of electronic products plays an important role in various fields of production,life,agriculture,industry and military.The resulting electromagnetic radiation and electromagnetic interference endanger people’s health in life and affect the normal work of electronic equipment,especially in the military It will also affect the normal work of military equipment and pose a threat to the safety of the country and the people.Microwave absorbing materials have received considerable interest over the years for their applications in stealth,communications,and information processing technologies.These materials often require functionalization at the nanoscale so to achieve desirable dielectric and magnetic properties which induce interaction with incident electromagnetic radiation.This article presents a comprehensive review on the recent research progress of nanomaterials for microwave absorption,including the basic mechanism of microwave absorption,common interaction pathways,and the advances and performance review in microwave absorption,and looking forward to the future development direction of absorbing materials.The effect of a single material as a wave absorbing agent is not ideal.Different types of wave absorbing materials have their own characteristics and application limitations,and composite materials combine the excellent properties of multiple materials.At the same time,their morphology in nanoscale will greatly enhance the wave absorption effect.In order to achieve the characteristics of thin,light,wide and strong absorbers and to meet the requirements of higher performance in multi-spectral range absorption,high absorption strength,low price,high temperature resistance and radiation resistance,it is necessary to prepare nanocomposite absorbers by adjusting the composition,ratio and structure of the material are systematically optimized for its electromagnetic properties and wave absorbing properties to improve the overall performance of the material.Besides,the development of compatible multi-band absorbing materials is also required.Absorbers that are compatible with multi-band absorption such as meter waves,centimeter waves,and millimeter waves,and having high temperature resistance and radiation resistance are expected to become one of the main directions of future research on absorber materials.In addition,we must pay attention to the design of absorbing materials with diverse structural functions.The complex structure helps to improve the absorbing performance.The absorbing material is made into fiber,cluster,honeycomb or multi-layer,which can not only reduce the density of the material,effectively expand its absorbing frequency band,but also in a certain range.The electromagnetic parameters of the material can be adjusted to improve its wave impedance matching relationship.
