With the rapid development of civil aviation, the demand for all kinds of aircraft reducers is also increasing. At the same time, the demand for lightweight reducer parts and their organization and performance is extremely urgent. Many parts of reducer choose light alloy materials.Among them, the disc parts are the key force components. The working environment of the parts is complex and changeable, and they work in high temperature and high pressure environment for a long time. The disc parts are designed with light alloy materials and made by forging.Among the lightweight series materials, magnesium alloys and aluminium alloys have gradually replaced alloy steel materials because of their low density and high comprehensive properties, and become the preferred materials for lightweight key components.Magnesium alloys and aluminium alloys have poor plasticity. The structure and properties of forgings are closely related to the forging process. Therefore,it is of great significance to study the precision forging process and the control of microstructure and properties of magnesium alloy and aluminum alloy light materials. In this paper, two kinds of disc forgings,AZ80 A magnesium alloy and 7075 aluminum alloy in light alloy, are studied.Isothermal forging process is studied to prepare blanks for isothermal forging, and the mechanical properties and structure of blanks for isothermal forging are compared and analyzed.According to the different isothermal forging process schemes of the two materials, the process tests were carried out to analyze and improve the quality. Two kinds of disc forgings,AZ80 A magnesium alloy and 7075 aluminum alloy, were trial-produced,and the control methods of structure and properties were studied. After forging, the forgings were compared by dimension scanning and ultrasonic flaw detection. The mechanical properties, chemical composition, macroscopic and microscopic structures of AZ80 A magnesium alloy and 7075 aluminum alloy disc forgings were tested and analyzed. The properties and microstructures of AZ80 A magnesium alloy and 7075 aluminum alloy from as-cast to forging were compared and studied, which provided data and guidance for the development of light alloy disc forgings.
