Hard disk is one of key components of computer,its capability is improved continuously with the rapid development of computer technology.The production technology of Head Gimbal Assembly(HGA)also need to be promoted as it is an important component of hard disk and works role as reading and writing component of hard disk.Currently the magnetic head soldering machines need to be promoted urgently as it is operated through manual method,which do not meet the demands of low cost as well as high efficiency in the mass production.Meanwhile,most of the manual operation can be replaced with industrial robots.Thus,the enterprises urgently need to develop a magnetic head soldering machines for the hard disk base on the basis of industrial robots.For the time being,the automatic tin soldering devices that used for magnetic head soldering are adopted by several giant companies that focus on hard disk manufacturing because of its low cost and reliable capability,but the soldering methods are various.We invent a new automatic soldering machine that has advantages of less manual assistant,lower cost and higher efficiency.The machine is consisting of robot loading and unloading,laser unit,ball delivering unit,position unit and soldering process unit.The article presents designs on mechanism system and control system for the soldering machine.The design principles and factors that affect soldering quality are also studied,some mathematic models are established as well.Soldering nozzle is a key part with high cost.We optimize design and do thermodynamic analysis for it,the new nozzle has longer life time,better soldering quality and has been registered as a patent.We also study the coordinating relations between tin balls with different diameters and pads through simulation.The intuitive soldering effect for the two parts with optimized sizes can be obtained rapidly.Thus,we save the investment on human resources,materials and time and guarantee the availability of put differently HGA products into mass production shortly.The latest part is parameter optimization for machine,we improve the soldering effect and quality continuously through adopting 6SIGMA and DOE technique,analyzing the parameters that affect soldering,and settling the best combination within laser energy,nitrogen pressure and nozzle height.
